he sounds very concerned for the South FL west and east coast...you will have to watch the video as I don't want to misquote him.

I didn't want to be the one to say it...
But it's also just general idiots who think they can get over on something in the confusion.

Do you mean roving armed gangs of gangsta rappers on the rampage.....

well considering our new gun laws they might want to think twice or they could be shot onsite...and probably no questions asked.

Does anyone in Palm Beach County forsee shutters going up in the near future or is it still to soon to tell??
I would wait until tomorrow this time to decide. But I tell you what, Palm Beach County doesn't know what is about to hit them if it stays on it's current projected track...
Really, I'm not scaring anybody, it could be a reality.

If the NHC track verifies, Palm Beach County is going to get absolutely nailed. MUCH Worse than Frances, Jeanne, and Katrina.
Brent, I find there is some complacency here due to the fact it is approaching from the SW instead of the Atlantic.
Honestly on its projected track it crosses barely even 100 miles of flat marshy land. With a rapid forward speed it will hardly weaken.
The north side of this storm will be the worst side with E and SE winds off the Atlantic at possible CAT 2 to CAT 3 speeds along coast SE florida.
That is if everything verifies as we see it tonight.

Many people are also feeling tired of hurricanes and will not really bother. If the track holds Palm Beach County will get absolutely raked with Cat 2 winds probably. These are straight-line winds that were not experienced with Frances or Jeanne.

Scorpion, I live in Jupiter also and from what I understand we only got 70-80 mph sustained and one rogue gust with Frances of about 91 mph if I remember(we had satellite basically all night). So, will you think we will have 90-100 sustained and what is a straight line wind? Thank you in advance.

Allow me to advise, IF Wilma stays on the exact dotted line path as the NHC has it tonight and comes ashore extreme SW FL as a CAT 4 or CAT 5, then Palm Beach will easily see CAT 3+ winds if not CAT 4.
The more likely scenario is landfall with CAT 3 winds but even so Palm Beach will get raked with CAT 2+ winds with higher gusts. That mean winds easily above 110-120 mph.
That will put Frances and Jeanne to shame for Palm Beach County effects.
I advise we take it seriously here in Palm Beach county and finalize preparations ASAP or you will be stuck in mass panic that I predict will happen at the end of the week.

I don't know how everyone feels about Steve Gregory over at WU, but his latest post (Link) says:
"The NOGAPS model shows landfall just south of Sarasota - while the GFS s further south, along the Florida keys and southern Florida -- and emerging off the coast near Ft. Lauderdale. My first guestimate is to side with the GFS. And in fact, I might as well best describe the track as the reverse instant replay of Katrina's track -- coming in over the Everglades, crossing Dade County and ending up off the coast near or just north of Ft Lauderdale. "
That got my blood pumping a bit more, just thinking that could happen. Who knows?
Tomorrow, I'm going to get my supplies - which are pretty stocked, still, minus the junk food and alcohol, ie, the important stuff - complete and gas up. I'm not taking any chances with this one.
(I said earlier I wasn't worried. I'm a step before worried at this point.)

Straight line winds is simply damaging wind, like you see with a severe thunderstorm or during a hurricane...
They call it straight line because all the damage goes in one direction(all the trees fall the same way). That's how the NWS distinguishes between a tornado and straight line winds... a tornado would have everything blown everywhere.

Likely so. What's your opinion on the School District of Palm Beach County's actions, Brent?
What are they doing? The only day I could see them closing is Friday(and then after the storm passes if necessary). That's 2 full days away...
