Joshua, if you go to the stats page and scroll down to the Daily Statistics Chart you'll see the running average for daily posts at the bottom. Currently it's running about 750 a day. Then take 100,000-current total posts and devide by the average posts per day. The should give you the number of days to get to 100,000. Remember, 16.5 days=16 days and 12 hours.
here is one I just ran..
(100,000-88,773) = 11,227 posts to go
11,227 / 750.63 = 14.95 days
7/7/03 11:43 PM + 14.95 days= 7/22/03 10:38 PM
Note: It's better to run this close to midnight for more accurate numbers.

4:05am Eastern Time Update:
(100,000 - 88,855) = 11,145 posts to go
11,145 / 719.93 = 15.48 days
5/8/03 4:05 AM Eastern + 15.48 days (371.52 hours) = 5/23/03 3:36 PM Eastern
It isn't too bad calculating it at other times of day.
Reminder: This is using the "30 day average" -- some days less posts, some days many more posts.

Tom congrats for bringing the stats about when we will reach 100,000 posts because you are doing hard work to calculate those numbers so continue to inform us when with the daily average of posts we will exactly get that goal.

Tom the only issue with doing it in the morning is that the current day brings down the average since there haven't been many posts. If you notice in my calculation the average was 750 and in yours the average is 719. If you want to get a better figure during the day exclude the current dat and recalulate the average by add the totalposts for each day and deviding by the number of days to come up with a new average.

Yes, Marshall... I noticed that right away. It makes sense that the monthly post average fell 31 during the overnight hours. It still gives us an idea of what we are looking at and I felt like posting an update before dawn.
I appreciate your discussion with me on this and I am responding. Thanks.

4:00 AM Eastern Time Update:
(100,000 - 91,095) = 8,905 posts to go
8,905 / 737.8 = 12.07 days
5/10/03 4:00 AM Eastern + 12.07 days (289.683 hours) = 5/22/03 5:41 AM Eastern
I wanted to get to this earlier (around Midnight Eastern), but was watching the severe weather and keeping up with the information on it here. This gives us a good enough idea.

We have to go below 400 posts per day to then not get to 100,000 but as the stats show this board is so active that even a low this weekend because of mothers day wont affect the big deal of reaching it before june 1.
Post away everyone to reach it as soon as possible and Tom keep those stats comming as you are doing a wonderful job on that.
