Since this forum is about the basics (and I hate to take anything for granted), let's point out for those who might be new to this that the wind direction is the direction that the wind comes FROM. A north wind comes form the north, for example.

Most probably know that already, but just in case...you know what they say...When you assume...

Thanks for bringing that up... yes, wind directions are where they are from. For instance, a northerly wind is wind that comes from the north toward the south.

With regard to storm movement, then the direction is TOWARDS which the storm is moving.
