TD#5 Track and Hurricane Ivan 2004 Track

Is TD#5 track similar to Hurricane Ivan in 2004 up to a certain point?

Looking at the project path of TD #5 and then taking an archive of Ivan from 2004 it looks like they are similar up to where this one leaves off...#5.

Yes, the progged track for TD #5 and Ivan look a lot alike. I would note, though, that model guidance in Ivan had it turning north too soon over, and over and over. If you look at the NHC forecast tracks here:

You'll see that Ivan was not expected to take the route that it did--it was expected to be right of where it ended up.

Thanks wjs3. I remember that we thought it was going to go into FL instead of where it did eventually hit.

I remember the cone of uncertainty kept going further and further west for almost a week it seemed.

Yep, it sure did. Ivan, for a while, was supposed to go into Tampa, even.
