I notice the South Indian Ocean is very active in terms of tropical cyclones. On average, South Indian Ocean sees 20 TS, 10 TC, and 4 Category 3+ TC. Any reason for its activeness? Other parts of the Southern Hemisphere are either quiet or devoid of TC, especially South Atlantic and South Central and Southeast Pacific.

The South Indian Ocean across Australia and into the SW Pacific has an active monsoon during the Austral Summer-since there's no land masses of any size west of Australia the Trough with it's favorable development conditions stays over water. It also doesn't get as far poleward as the Northern Hemisphere Monsoon Trough does except near Australia where in the Northern Territories the monsoon is referred to as The Wet.
