With the lack of recon data and the "loco" model runs, this is frustrating day. :grr:

Definitly something is not right about this mission.Or they are having computer problems on board,or mechanical problems forced them to return to St Croix.

I'm not suprised the 2pm didn't have anything, as the general public could care less about the status of the plane. However, I would expect to see somethig about this in the 5pm discussion if we don't hear/see anything about it sooner.

I don't want to sound like a fearmongerer, but I'm getting bad vibes with Ernesto :( Hes going to be a monster in the Gulf next week. It looks like all the Katrina 1 year anniversary remembrances will be overshadowed by Ernesto

Well, we can now confirm that the issue is with the plane, as the NHC is uploading data from a recently begun training mission perfectly well.

TWC just reported that recon is reporting 66mph flight level winds...so apparently they are getting the info somehow.

Plot of new VORTEX. Center is NE of presumed 2 p.m. NHC location.

Sure the GFS is on crack...but Ernesto seems to enjoy pulling to the north.

And you shouldn't. They repositioned the center it's not a Northerly turn!
