The nhc said that they are not using the 53 knots. But then I look at this stuff in find nothing over 30 knots flight level.

Yeah chris is probably already dead. What your seeing on satelite is like our reflex movements are to us when the brain is dead. The nerves are still alive.

It still looks a little better then it did yesterday though, the convection was always going to fall apart because the shear simply is still too strong, also worth noting that Hispaniola seems to now be affecting the inflow of Chris as well. mind you I also believe its a tropical depression as well.

Yeah, as Matt suggested, there are no 30-39 knot flight level winds in all of the observations that we have (the only observation out of the 20s was the 58 knot ob). But, the discussion states that recon"measured 30 to 35 knot winds at flight level".

The last ob before the gap was 25 knots and was on an upward trend. It wouldn't have taken anything dramatic to get to 30-35. However, if 35 was the max then the TS classification is charity... and considering that recon is hanging around until 8, that charity may not last long.
