I find it ridiculous that they don't send out recon. If anything it can be used for future information.

He is so small but looks so uniform now. Dvorak estimates are at 117 kt.(134 mph)right now that would make it a cat. 4.

They keep going up by the hour. Definitely should see 105-110 kts at 11, at least.

IMO NHC is being way too conservative with 100 kt. What is making them call for such an intensity?

The lack of very deep convection in the CDO.

Near annular with sharp eye. But warm-tops! 2006 continues to amaze.

Yea....near annular! I couldn't believe him when I saw it earlier tonight. I thought "is Gordon going annular???" Too bad his cloud tops aren't that cold.

Finally a major out there and thankfully it's a fish! Who would have thought we'd be seeing our first real eye of the season this late? Let's make sure Helen behaves now...

With no banding features and that huge eye this storm looks seriously tiny. Or maybe that's just how things have become distorted after Florence... Helene looks to be large too.

The cloud tops have cooled over the last few hours. With some reds forming on the western quad. I think 110-115 knots!

Wow. Mr. Mini Gordon is looking so handsome this morning. I think he is peaking out right about now.
