Could Charley cause a tornado outbreak?

#1501 Postby Josephine96 » Thu Aug 12, 2004 10:12 am

I know this question may sound extreme or even silly.. but since I'll be on Charley's right side even if the eye doesn't directly pass over me.. I am concerned about tornadoes..

I know when Gabrielle came across in 2001, Brevard County had numerous tornado warnings and at least 2-3 reported tornado touchdowns..

Here's my question..? Could Charley cause a tornado outbreak in Central Florida..? {not like the outbreak in 1998, just an outbreak period}

She misspoke. She also said that Cuba would be hit by Charlie tomorrow. Fox News needs to get people who know what they are talking about covering them. She seemed clueless and her whole report made no sense. ;)

You're not going to be able to do anything with Geocities given how much traffic S2K is handeling at the moment. It'll be active for the first few hits- and then crash for a couple of hours.

If you want to put up things like this you'll need to get your own site or find another free site to put them up at.

It might also help to severly limit the size of the files you're putting up- that will imact the bandwith usage positivly. Try using .gif and optimizing the graphics to as small as they can possibly go.

If you'd like me to take a look at how to optimize the graphic and maybe swing you a place to host for a few days I can probably help. PM me if you're interested or email me at innocence@gmail.com

The ULL is shearing the sw quadrenth of the storm just a bit... It shouldn't affect it enough to cause halting of intensification....

I don't know necessarily if it would be considered an "outbreak", but there definitely is a risk for tornadoes.

Steph.. I still fear a Cat 3 could hit too.. Lots of Tampa's buildings have glass windows and or structrually sound with glass or something..

That would cause billions of $ in damage if the wind gets strong enough and breaks those windows..

That will all depend on the timing (with respect to tides), exact track, and windspeed.

Low tide for the bay areae seems to center around about 7-8 pm Friday, high tide Saturday morning around 1-2 am

Re: Morning Charley Forecast 100KT at landfall

#1514 Postby Guest » Thu Aug 12, 2004 10:18 am

well at least were have gotten past the open wave thing...

just joking...

seriously The numbers I am thinking about are stronger than 100 knots... I would not at all be surprised with a 936 MB or 940 MB readings and winds at or above 135 MPH at some point in the next 2.5 days

True Garrett.. Maybe I used the wrong word lol.. I don't know..

Like I said.. I'm on pins and needles here.. I am actually not at my current residence right now, I'm using the comp. at the college because I was starting to drive the people nuts over there lol..

They're going to have to pry me away from the comp. here at the college because I think I'll be here a few hours

The chances of an outbreak with violent tornadoes is slim to none. However, isolated brief tornadoes will be possible.

LOL!!! Stay safe.

The tornadoes in tropical systems are usually brief, aren't they?
