Should NC residents along outer banks be concerned???
I only asked this since our local news is saying it's not a big deal. "It will be too far off the coast to do anything other than some rain."
I disagree with how they are coming across. Rain is rain, but we already have a flash flood watch in effect and a flash flood warning for Durham County, NC.
If am I reading the NHC forcast correctly it stated they are moving the track to the left to either on-shore or right off shore. Which is certainly not in line with what the news is saying. What are the professional's opinions here? I have to be honest, I trust you guys here much more than my local news! Besides, can my daughter sleep without worrying her trampoline will be tossed around by wind?
I guess we will flip it over just in case.
I personally know little about how the weather works, I just enjoy all of you, your opinions, professionalism and the power of "Mother Nature". It's just an interest of mine. Thanks guys!![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Re: Should NC residents along outer banks be concerned???
You could see some winds mainyl gusts to Hurricane Force depending on the strength as it reaches you. As a broadcasting meteorologists the first main concern is to keep your composure and dont be an alarmist. 2 years ago for Hurricane Lili, I live in the New Orleans area when the Cat 4 was sitting in the central Gulf all the meteorlogists were saying it will go to far west. Once Lili started to move NNW, one Bob Breack was the first to say we may need to start getting worried. All New Orleans residents remember Margret Orr, came on TV crying! They may under estimate the system just to keep cool, but usually 6 hours before landfal they are going nuts. Just watch out for some wind! The western Eye Wall may past very close to the OB.

91L looking very good and headed for the alley
91L looks VERY good this evning. The storm is clearly wrapping up, and will be threat to the Windward Islands in a couple of days. I keep reading it will be pulled up north, I dont think so because it is not fully developed and wont be until a couple of days. Troughs dont have too much of an effect on non developed systems. When I mean developed Im talking a few steps down from what Alex is. 91L will most likley be upgraded tomorrow as a DP. Well see. Anyways it will be heading for the "alley".

weatherchic,
I wouldn't be too concerned as Johnston county is pretty much in central North Carolina (if that map I just looked at was right
). You will get some rain, but probably not anything serious as the effects will be much worse well SE of you. Wind won't be a big deal either but I would flip that trampoline over just in case
.
BTW Zach, a TV met went on camera crying? That's kinda funny but I would have gotten worried
. I had a good friend who knew a local met really well and she said that Lafayette should have been evacuated but it was too late to make the call. Thankfully Lili weakened and we didn't have major damage, just a big mess and no power.
