Looks less and less likely the peninsula will be in the weaker part of the storm---looks like a definite run up the west coast instead of the East coast then right? Problems for Tampa/Ponta Gorda area more likely

Thats my thinking Jek. Perhaps far enough west to even spare Tampa alot of damage etc.

The big player right now as a few others have pointed out is what will happen with the ULL in the Atlantic? My thinking as it has been is that it helps send the cane into the Panhandle. Another issue is what will be happening with the system by the lakes that models show appears to be moving to fast to catch the cane and send it into sw FL or even Tampa for that matter.

Your one lucky dude...I don't see you in the dark next week! And neither do I see myself in the dark....we'll both have power, cable, and internet as the storm brings devastation to some other people in between us, IMO!

Ok this bad. If it happens to come to Pensacola-- I HOPE Ivan is no worse than a CAT 3. I don't want a 4 or 5 in my backyard! Opal was complete destruction on Pensacola beach. If it's a 4 or 5-I am out of here.

Don't get too worried, yet...it's a ways away. And Pensacola is fairly elevated away from the water. I love Pensacola---I go there 4 or 5 times every summer to enjoy the sun and beach.
