SPECIAL TROPICAL DISTURBANCE STATEMENT
NWS TPC/NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL
630 PM AST SUN APR 20 2003

SATELLITE IMAGERY INDICATES THAT A NON-TROPICAL LOW LOCATED
ABOUT 115 MILES WEST-SOUTHWEST OF BERMUDA HAS DEVELOPED
ORGANIZED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS NEAR THE CENTER DURING
THE PAST 24 HOURS. ADDITIONAL DEVELOPMENT IS POSSIBLE DURING
THE NEXT 24 HOURS AS THE SYSTEM MOVES GENERALLY EASTWARD ABOUT
10 MPH...AND THE LOW COULD BECOME A SUBTROPICAL DEPRESSION OR
STORM LATER TONIGHT OR MONDAY.

THE GOVERNMENT OF BERMUDA HAS ISSUED A GALE WARNING FOR THE
ISLAND...AND RESIDENTS OF BERMUDA SHOULD MONITOR THE PROGRESS
OF THE SYSTEM. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION CAN ALSO BE FOUND IN HIGH
SEAS AND OFFSHORE FORECASTS ISSUED BY THE OCEAN PREDICTION CENTER
AND THE TROPICAL PREDICTION CENTER.

Wow already this statement out indicates that it is turning in part into a warm core low that has surprised many for being april but the weather has instore for us many surprises many times.

Yes, indeed. The chances of this developing weren't that low, considering the way the storm was spinning yesterday afternoon. It even appeared to be drifting southwesterly just a bit.

REMARKABLE. Amazingly enough, a band of strong convection has just deveoped (this hour) NW of the center. In fact, the circulation pattern has become even better organized. The NHC (and probably our team, lol) may be initiating advisories on this tonight.

While I don't think there's much of a chance for much of a land threat to develop, this is awful early for even a sub-trop to develop.
