I thought that the disturbance might have a shot at developing a few days ago, but it looks like that won't happen. It's embedded in a giant SAL dust vortex. We may well make it past August 20th without Danielle. If we do, then the forecast numbers need to drop again by 2-3.

Eastern Tropical Atlantic:
Shower and thunderstorm activity associated with a tropical wave
located several hundred miles west-southwest of the Cabo Verde
Islands has decreased since yesterday. This system is expected to
move westward to west-northwestward at 15 to 20 mph across the
tropical Atlantic during the next several days, and significant
development is becoming less likely.

We can see the inhibiting factors on visible in regards to Ex 97L. Strong airliner level westerlies to its NW and just north of it, is very dry air. Still looks pretty good though.
