with the GFS having pressure at 934 and the front lifting out, I don't see how this storm would continue NW for so long and not lift N/NE sooner is a little confusing

12z GFS so far is the strongest with Ian, entering the GOM as a Cat 4.

12Z GFS IR loop, a monster but way out in the Gulf. Looks to start weakening at the end some:

I’m not convinced of the rapid collapse. All the other models at least have a slow decrease in strength on approach and holding strength.
