Suspected robber busted after asking for directions!

FLORENCE, Ore. (Court TV) — A suspected bank robber's quest for a bus got him busted.

Police arrested LaGrande Sandine, 48, after he told a man standing across the street from the bank that he had to get out of town quickly and needed directions to the bus station.

The catch? The bystander, Jared Torgison, was the son of the manager of the recently robbed Klamath First bank.

Sandine allegedly entered the bank on May 16, passed the teller a note and made off on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Later that day he approached Torgison, whose mother had told him about the heist. Torgison thought the would-be traveler looked like the robbery suspect: a white man with short blond hair, wearing a gray sweatshirt and blue jeans.

Torgison called the bank on his cellphone and told employees to look outside and verify that the man was the one who robbed the bank earlier. They did, and Sandine was arrested a few blocks away and charged with second-degree robbery.

Instead of a bus ride, Sandine gets to ride it out in a cell at the Lane County jail awaiting a May 27 preliminary hearing.
