Two people are being taken by ambulance to a local hospital with gunshot wounds received at the Pismo Beach Denny's restaurant.
According to radio dispatches, the man and woman, both 58, are stable and not complaining of abdominal pain.
Both were shot in the buttocks. The woman had no exit wound, but the man did, according to medics speaking to radio dispatchers.
A gunman is reportedly barricaded inside the restaurant off Five Cities Drive and Fourth Street.
Police have the building surrounded and nearby streets have been blocked off.
It's unclear whether restaurant patrons or employees are still inside.
More details are expected after a 1 p.m. police briefing.
