I need to vent ...........

#1 Postby BUD » Wed Mar 22, 2006 8:28 am

My wife and me work at the same place. But my wife is a manger. She is the opening manger. She has been there for 1.5 years now and NOT gotten a raise in pay and now they are hiring in new manger "TRAINEES"(not mangers yet)at from $1.50 to$2.50 more than she is.(Before she worked there she already had 15 years under her belt)
The days I work all the other mangers tell me how she works so hard and that she is killing-her-self to get things done.So I know its not her work performance.
OK,the other thing is now we cannot leave on our lunch time to go get something to eat or go to walmart ect...And we are "OFF"the clock on our on time not company time, but still we cannot leave the store for any reason.AND last we now cannot talk to no one about the company.I asked my GM what that means and she told me "If anybody ask you how things are at the store tell them,"Its none of there business" and tell them its like the CIA.
And all this at a fast food place!!!!!!

Have you talked to other employees about their lunch breaks? How are they dealing with the fact they cannot leave. It is a tough world out there, so you only have two options. You can stay and put up with it or leave and find another job. You cannot fight big business. I once overheard a manager say "there is a long line waiting for your job when you leave". In the meantime, look for other jobs. I assume you do not have a union. That might help.

dang a place that does that to its employees in SC? i'll be sure not to patronize that establishment. you can get fired for saying "union"?

i guess SC is a state where employers are allowed to fire you for anything they desire.

but you can't take a lunch??? that is bovine fecal matter!!!!!!!

i would talk to the labor board as sweatshops are illegal in the US i believe. what's next are they gonna say that you can't go homw hen your shift is over???

and not talking about work? i could see maybe if they mean you cannot talk about a secret method of making burgers or something that you guys might have but other companies haven't developed...but if someone asks you "how did your day go?" you aren't even allowed to respond "it was crappy"???

PM me and let me know where i should NOT eat in SC

Tell her to get on her local newspaper website, pick up a paper (employment section), any staffing agencies in the area, look around for help wanted and get the H E double Hockey sticks out of there. Jobs are not worth that stress unless you like what your doing. Don't quit of course till you have a good lead on a job and you have a starting date.

Call your states' labor relations board.........that'll take care of ALL of your problems, it sounds like to ME a case of GROSS labor law violations! :grr:
