Your favorite summer vacation

#1 Postby azsnowman » Tue Apr 18, 2006 1:24 pm

With this school year ALMOST OVER  I'm seeing a LOT of kids on field trips, takes me back to those days.....field trips = end of school and SUMMER VACATION!!! What was your favorite summer vacation?

Mine had to be the summers I spent on my grandfathers farm in the PanHandle of Texas........that's where I feel in LOVE with the weather! We'd sit out on the front porch in the evenings watching the thunderstorms roll in from MILES away and the sky would turn green and grandpa would yell......."Head to the cellar kids, we gotta torpedo comin'"!!

right after HS graduation, i got to backpack through Europe. It wasnt all fun and games since I had to be at certain places and certain times in order to get my allowances....it also allowed my family to check up on me.

I guess mine were summer camps, girl scout and lutheran camp. Also the Black Hills with the family was fun. We didn't have a lot of extra money as kids growing up to travel to great places. We were not poor, kids just didn't get to travel like they do today.

My summers when we lived in Alabama were the best. My dad was the golf pro at the counrty club there so I got to swim in the Olympic size swimming pool with a slide and diving board daily all day, and got my own golf cart to ride around the course and fish any lake on the last few holes. Those were the days. Ahhhh :bday:

We would go every year to this place in the Catskill mountains called "Villa Roma" for a week where everyone was "Italian" for a week.

Think of the movie "Dirty Dancing" and that's it in a nutshell. Met lots of fun, wonderful friends and had a blast there every year.
