The Sci-Fight Chanel?

#1 Postby TexasStooge » Tue Jul 04, 2006 7:27 pm

When I was watching "The Twilight Zone" marathon, I saw an advertisment about ECW Wrestling tonight at 10:00PM ET/9:00PM CT on The Sci-Fi channel. I'm assuming it's live in a different planet.

What is up with some of the cable channels lately?

I can't comment on the wrasslin, but I did catch a couple episodes of The Twilight Zone. Amazing how they could create such tension and get to the heart of the human condition in so many instances, with a simple black and white, 30 minute show, with primitive if any, special effects.

Yep, they have stooped to the level of having wrestling on the Sci-fi channel. I have no idea what the two have in common except that some of those wrestlers look like aliens!!!

I caught a few TZ episodes too. The one with the lady who goes in for drastic facial plastic surgery, hoping to look normal. Another with the lady driving by a hitchhiker, just as her car stalls out on the railroad tracks. I'd get into more of them, if I had the time!

Aw, don't get me started w. the "SCIENCE FICTION Channel". It's always loaded with horror movies, occult-themed shows, "let's mess with ghosts" shows and other decidedly non-science-fiction c-r-a-p. I think of all those great shows that COULD be on. :( (sigh). Oh well, what die-hard sci-fi'er DOESN'T love the drama and action that is professional wrestling? We can all appreciate a Asimov vs Bradbury cage-match!

My favorite Twilight Zone episode: The one with Art Carney, where he plays a depressed, booze-soaked store Santa who has become very cynical on the whole deal. Great story, including everyone's favorite star - a kitty! Talk abut the original Santa "Clause" and "Morning Edition" all rolled into one! :D

Nothing, really. Sci-Fi is part of the NBC family of networks, which also includes the USA network, which carries WWE RAW on Monday nights. Thus, when WWE needed to put ECW on TV, the NBC-Universal execs put it on Sci-Fi. I've watched it, and there have been a couple sci-fi elements thrown in, such as vampires and zombies. However, let me stipulate really quickly that ECW is NOT for children, as there is somewhat of a sexual element in the show.
