I spray starch my husbands pants for work. He wears Docker type pants with a lab coat. He works with chemicas, so he doesn't wear expensive clothes.
My problem is, when I iron navy or dark pants, the starch from the can gets all over the pants and white residue stays on the pants and I have to wipe it off with a wet cloth. This goes on with his entire pants.
Any suggestions?

There's also a white mesh iron cloth, that you can put down between the item you're ironing and the iron (they sell them Target, Wal Mart, etc.). You have to keep repositioning it though. I wish they would make this type of cloth but with heavy duty, heat resistant elastic. So you could just put it directly on your iron and iron away.
I use this cloth for dark pieces.
I used to use Sizing, a step down from Starch. But now I just use steam heat on the iron and a spray bottle of water for stubborn wrinkles.
Good luck Janice.

One more tip! Years ago I used to use those shiny ironing board covers, with teflon. I think my iron was picking up that substance and it was building up on my iron, re-distributing it onto my clothes. Now I buy only cotton ironing board covers and still use that ironing cloth for very dark pieces of clothing. One tip with these cotton covers - after washing them in your washer, don't put them in your dryer, just put them on damp, that way they won't get too small for your board and also when still damp, you can stretch them better, getting out all the creases.
Back to white spots on clothing!

As you know, I'm a STARCH freak...especially my dress blues for the PD, I use Magic Premium Starch with "Patented FibrEnhancer".......it does NOT flake and turn white, guaranteed
As I said, I am a FREAK about clothes being starched, I'll take 'em once in awhile to the dry cleaners to have them professionally done and "triple starched".....they put the creases in the shirts and pants.
