When it rains it pours here. (another need prayers thread)

#1 Postby beachbum_al » Thu Aug 17, 2006 9:05 am

It seems like when it rains on my family it pours. I think of you guys and gals here as family so I am turning to you for prayers and good thoughts. I don't know if it will help though because it might be too late.

My fil was diagnosed with prostrate cancer several years ago. He went through treatment and it came back about a year ago. Then we thought it was in the bones but it wasn't. Well yesterday we found out that his cancer is back and it is in the bones. The doctors give him to 2 to 3 years to live. I don't know all of the details and I am strictly going by what my husband has told me. I do know that he has had severe back pain and leg pain in the last couple of years. He is not in the best health either. I think he might be going through chemo again but I am not sure. As I find out more I will let you know. Please keep my fil and his family in your prayers. Especially my mil who will be caring for him in the near future.

Prayers and thoughts with your fil, beachbum.

I had a great aunt with bone cancer in the 1970s. One of the worst kinds of cancer there is from what I've heard.

I talked to my sil last night. I told her what her brother told me and she gave me the scoop. First my fil is not dying. He only hears half of what the doctors say and takes that info and tells the family. Yes, he does have cancer but the hormone treatment is still working. The levels were slightly elevated but according to her that was normal error marginal. I think they were 0.07 elevated. She said what the doctor said was once the treatments stop working that is when the patient has only likely only 2 to 3 years. He has not hit that point. I did let my husband read what his sister sent me and he is doing a lot better with this now.

Similar situation happen the last time too with David's parents info and I had to get the daughter to tell me what was going on. She works in the pathology lab so she is seeing the info first hand and knows what is going on.

Besides that I know that he is in a lot of pain but I think a lot of that is from the extra weight that he has on him (he is overweight) and his other health problems. But this latest news is good news for us. Give us a little hope!
