Observation Report For 9/19/2006

#1 Postby Ptarmigan » Tue Sep 19, 2006 10:59 pm

I decided to starwatch after a rainstorm and cool front came by. It made the weather cooler and less humidity. I took out my 8 inch telescope and starwatched under the magnitude 3.5 sky. The seeing was good. Here's what I saw.
Ring Nebula-Always looking good. At 98x, I can see a ring.
Dumbbell Nebula-Looks like a bluish-gray apple core.
Messier 13-First time to see it this year.

Objects I attempted to see.
Neptune-Tried looking for it. May have seen it.
Veil Nebula-Tried to look for it. I did not see it.

Overall, not bad for someone who has not starwatched in months.

It's been a while since I took out my 10 incher-of course it was cloudy through most of the Summer. Need to take my small scope out and drive about 5 miles east of town for my Mag6.5 skies (as opposed to only mag 5.5 here at the house.
