The safest place to live??

#1 Postby jusforsean » Fri Jul 07, 2006 3:34 pm

Where is the best place to live now that we are faced with the bird flu, nuclear bombs and terrorist? Not to mention the weather, hurricanes, tornadoes floods etc... Where is the safest to be? In the Tenn mountains?

I think that would going a little over your head jusforsean. Right now one of the safest places from those disasters would be the ISS (International Space Station).

Where I live there are no floods. There are no tornadoes or hurricanes. No severe hailstorms. There are no terrorist targets and not much crime either. No traffic jams save waiting for the elk to clear the driveway.

The only thing we have to deal with is extreme temperatures and the occasional blizzard. Click below:

I think here we have several threats, NW Mississsippi.

Severe weather can get pretty bad here.
Earthquakes from the New Madrid fault.
And of course, if the levees were to fail on the MS River.

I tend to be more concerned about the human predators than weather disasters when considering this question. But then, think how boring life would be without changes in the weather? How many beautiful places exist on the planet that are in volatile areas? Guess you gotta take the bitter with better - like everything else in life. My, I am waxing philosophical today!

I think I live in one of the safest places to be! I mean, eh, I'm on the coast and a block from a bioterrorism lab and a few miles of a bunch of oil refineries. But other than that, not much to worry about.

We're pretty safe from natural disasters here in England. Tornado's aren't as common. We are no where near any tropics for hurricanes....no insects that can kill in this country. No dangerous spiders in Britain. Not a lot out there that can kill you.

Britain's never been safe from terrorism...throughout history theres been someone who has not been happy at us! We've had Romans, Vikings, Saxons and Normans raid our shores..Napoleon and Hitler have tried. We had a civil war. Many cities badly damaged through World War 1 and more so World War 2. The IRA bombed out cities through the latter part of the 20th century...and thats all before today's terrorist threats emerged...which of course hit us in July 2005.

So I guess the answer to the question is its not here!
