4 students on that team were reportedly from this area, according to WKRC-TV. :(

Thanks Jeremy. I wasn't aware we had local grads on this bus. Does anyone know yet if the driver fell asleep? Reports I've read state the bus failed to stop at the exit ramp. I also question if this was mechanical failure (brakes). My college aged daughter goes on many trips, similar to this one, riding on Greyhound buses as well. So this tragic story really hits home. Praying for those injured and those that perished. Truly a sad, sad story.

College only has an enrollment of 1,191. Truly sad.

The driver apparently mistook the exit ramp for the HOV lane and went over the side of the overpass. A new driver had taken over an hour before, so they do not believe exhaustion was an issue. The driver, his wife, and 4 students killed.

Seems to be the story of the decade. One charter bus accident after another...

My thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends of those victims.

And isn't this the second bus in as many months to crash off a ramp onto a highway?

I remember one in 1995 where a train hit a bus. I think it was in Indiana. I think the problem was a faulty stoplight that wasn't working properly.

A 5th student died early this morning in an Atlanta hospital. An 18-year-old pitcher...

I watched the CNN 1 hour Special on this SIU...The Fatal Journey last night on this bus journey that turned out to be the bus journey to hell.
It plays again tonight (Sunday) at 8pm.

I recommend watching it tonight if you didn't yet see it... totally riveting and tear-jerking.
