Arts & Entertainment Network & the Boston Pops?

The Arts & Entertainment network is not going to broadcast "Pops Goes the Fourth" from Boston, Massachusetts this year. The local (ABC) affliate [WCVB-TV 5] and A&E used to produce it every year.

The local (CBS) affiliate in Boston [WBZ-TV 4] is having local coverage and obviously doesn't have affiliation with A&E with the concert and fireworks.

I read in the TV listings that the CBS affiliates across the country have some of the Boston Pops coverage.

I am not sure why they wouldn't carry the program anymore. It did extremely well, as it was on July 4th from 7:30 PM ET to 10:45-ish PM ET, repeated from 10:45-ish PM ET or so to at least 2:00 AM ET for many years. (It was scheduled until 10:30 PM ET and scheduled for rebroadcast at 10:30 PM ET... but the live coverage always went closer to 10:45 PM ET.

They are going to have "This Is Your Country" instead.

It makes sense to me; remember, A&E gets a lot of its "editorial input" from the likes of Jane Alexander and Linda Bloodworth-Thomason; both Hillary devotees, and NO friends of this Administration or its "war on terror".

I'd expect a two-hour sermonette from Alec Baldwin, Oliver Stone, Spike Lee and Susan Sarandon before viewing programming on A&E that has any resemblance to what's good, and decent, and RIGHT about our battered, but durable Republic.

The Boston Pops are on PBS occasionally... but never for their Christmas concert and Fourth of July Celebration.

CBS made a five year deal with "Pops Goes the Fourth." The Boston CBS affiliate (WBZ-TV 4), [which I used to watch often when I lived in southeastern Massachusetts], had the entire broadcast while the network only carried the last hour of the show, from 10:00 PM Eastern to 11:00 PM Eastern. Last nights Pops Concert was the latest ending because of the new time schedule with CBS Television.
