Kidney Stones

#1 Postby Meso » Tue Jun 10, 2008 12:54 am

How many of you have had them? I'm only 21 but over the past 5 years I've had 4 kidney stones, for those of you who have had you know how painful it is.For those of you who haven't,imagine being stabbed in the kidney and then giving birth to a rock,it's somewhat like that.I just had one today that seemed to be a cystine stone instead of the usual calcium stone..Not fun spending 4 hours trying to take pain meds and then ending throwing them up again cause of the pain

Wow! I usually hear about people with kidney stones that are a bit older than you are.

I can't even imagine the pain. I hope that you don't ever have them again.

i've never had them either. I cant imagine the pain, it must be absolutely horrible. My aunt has them from time to time, but she's in her 50s (or early 60s not totally sure) and yeah ive heard they are really painful. Just unimaginable. I mean, i get a headache and im in immense pain... so if i had a kidney stone, id pass out no doubt.

just for info, what medications do they give you for future kidney stone attacks?

I have bunches...And several laser surgery's to remove them...Once you have multiples you just keep having them...Drink more water and get rid of the sodas that helped me... As far as the pain...Thats why I don't own a gun ...Because I would have used it on my self by now...You think you have been though pain now...Wait till one gets stuck...And if one gets stuck you know where get to the hospital as soon as you can or you will kill everyone around you...

I know several women who've had both major kidney stones and babies and they all say they'd much rather have a baby.

I've only had a small kidney stone.

Mine was stuck for a few hours which wasn't fun.I went home from work at monday at 2 pm and then the pain died down and only resurfaced when it got stuck at 4am,it eventually passed at 8am...As for medication for kidney stones. If it's a genetic disorder you can get medication that helps the kidneys filter more, but then they need to do a test to find out which kind of stone which I should probably get done some time, but urologist expenses are a lot.But when it happens the only medication is a strong pain killer which I decided I didn't want this time since it was so early and I didn't want to go out
