On March 6, 1972, I received a call from the hospital. My mother's condition had gone from bad to worse. They told me that I needed to return to her bedside. My father, sister, and I knew this was not a good sign.
On the way to the hospital...while still dark out, a herd of horses, perhaps a dozen of them, was stopped in the road before us. We, in turn, came upon it and were forced to stop.
There, in line of sight from our headlights, was a beautiful white horse. As the horses slowly moved off the roadway, that white horse seemed to lead the way. We moved on to the hospital.
Upon arrival, it was the Chaplain, not the doctor, who greeted us at her room. Mom had passed away.
On our return trip later that day...and in the days that followed, we passed that spot where the horses had stood on that country road that morning. Never again did we see ANY horses in that area, let alone that beautiful white one.
All three of us have always wondered about them...if they were real, even. Or maybe if it was a "heavenly" message.
Regardless...my dad (age 88), my sister and I are still here today. Those horses are part of the reason why.
Nice story Bfez...I just wanted to add my true twist to it.

Thanks Bonnie
That reminds me of an incident that happened to me several years ago. I'd started to a local market when suddenly my car went dead at a red light....when the light turned green, angry drivers were blowing at me, yelling.....several passed me -- as I sat there frantically trying to refire the engine (this had never happened to me before in this car).
Finally....after a couple minutes, I finally get the engine started, and when the red light changed...I proceeded on toward my destination. Between the red light where my car stalled and the market, there had been a horrific accident -- a drunk driver had crossed the center line at high speed and slammed into two vehicles head on...including one that passed me when my car was stalled, the driver yelling obscenities and blowing his horn. He was killed, along with three others....it was one of the deadliest accidents I've ever witnessed in person; and I fully believe if my car had not went dead at the red light...I would have been killed in the accident; I would have been there when the other vehicle crossed the yellow line.

Wow Steve & Perry! Those were two amazing stories! Both sent chills up my spine.
I have a small tale now that I read Steve's post. When I was married, we were visiting my ex's parents. I saw a couple of kids bouncing a basketball all in in one specific area. When I looked on the ground, I noticed that there was an injured bird. I yelled at the kids to stop, scooped up the bird and put it in a box. At home I called a local animal orphanage/hospital to see if they would take it in. Meanwhile, I had left the box on our porch. We brought the bird over there, left a small donation and left.
I guess it was a few months later, we had a thunderstorm at my house. I went to the front door to watch it roll in and on the railing was a small brown bird that looked like the one we brought to the animal hospital. He just sat there and looked at me and I wondered if this was the same bird and he came back to say "thank you". I watched him for a few minutes and then walked away. When I went back alittle later, he was gone.
It may not have been the same bird, but I just had that gut feeling. It made me feel good!
