GORE FOR PRESIDENT!! bandwagon building

In my opinion, Gore would have done what most Democratic Presidents do....nothing meaningful. Sure there would have a lot of talk but little or no meaningful action. In the last 20 years every major crisis has been handled by the Republican President.

Iranian hostage crisis - President Carter did nothing, President Reagan got them home.

Lybia - you shoot at our planes and harbor terrorists - President Reagan! WHen was the last time Libya dared mouth off?

Kuwait - Iraq War - President Bush (Sr) said leave or we'll expell you. Saddam didn't leave - we kicked his butt!

Osama bin Laden - President Bush said we're coming to get you. He's still running but he doesn't contro; Afganistan anymore!

Iraq - President Bush - Cooperate fully or we'll come in. Saddam didn't cooperate...he's running now!

I challenge anyone to compile a list like this for the Democratic Presidents in the last 20 years. While I fully support diplomatic efforts there are times when some the military option must be used. Only then is it a credible deterrent!

If Al Gore, Jr had been President on 9/11/01, my theory is that more terrorist attacks would have occurred since in the U.S....and thousands of additional Americans would be dead. IMO Gore would have been hesitant about attacking Afghanistan en masse. Those detainees at Guantanamo Bay, and other Al Quada leaders we've captured in the middle east have provided valuable information that's IMO averted more terrorist attacks on U.S. soil.

Also, Gore wouldn't likely have clamped down on known Al Quada sympathisers/ Islamic groups here in the states for fear of being labeled "politically incorrect", or even worse, a racist. A major reason there have been no more attacks like 9/11?....because the suicide bombers in-waiting are all in custody (or fled in fear of being captured).

With all due respect...NOTHING but misuse of intel and lack of cooperation between government agencies working to translate that intel..and a bunch of crazy terrorists made september 11th possible.. It is always easy to blame someone else..The next administration will be blaming BUSH Maybe if the Repubs and the dems concentrated on this country as a whole and didn't seperate it by party lines..it would benifit us all a little more....HMMM could be :o As for Gore being in office when 911 occured and what coulda shoulda mighta..cause he wouldn't have yadadada..I don't think about that..I think it dishonors the memory of all the brave individuals who lost their lives that day!!!

We have been ripe for an attack like the 9-11 one for many many years. I don't blame any one administration for it. The CIA/FBI and other intelligence agencies have had turf wars for years. The Republicans and Democrats will always battle each other. What I have a problem with is the lack of action to prevent or at least respond to attacks by the last few Democratic presidents. We left our people in captivity in IRAN for 444 days and did nothing! We had two of our Embassy's bombed and did nothing! IMO if Gore had been President he would have done nothing as well... We will never know and I hope we won't have a chance to know in the future. I don't understand how that dishonors those that died Johnathan. They were victims of a brutal attack. Could it have been prevented? Maybe if everything had clicked perfectly but probably not. While everything is clear in hindsight, these agencies process millions of pieces of information everyday. What brought about 9-11 is an arrogance that nobody dared to do that kind of thing in our country. We gutted our intelligence and relied on computers to do the work that only people on the ground could do. Our freedoms left the door open and Osama and his fanatics walked through and bloodied us but good. There's nothing that can be done to bring back all those precious souls but we would dishonor their memory if we didn't learn and didn't avenge their deaths! We are the most benevolent nation i the world. However, when you come into our country and commit mass murder we will hunt you down! JMHO

I just think if the government concentrated more on "The people" and not the partylines we'd be better off..This is why I hate politics LOL I think your opinion was correct also..Good job!!
