We have Dell's at my house (laptop and desktop). So far so good. I know at school, we all have Dell, but HP printers. The HP printers have caused us problems.

I'm not surprised and I won't buy anything HP either. The first red flag is HP absorbed Compaq years ago which was by far the worst company for computers. I don't trust any company in general for desktop/laptops so the best option is custom builds. If I had to go with a company it would be Dell. I also wouldn't call tech support for anything hardware related since I know from the get go that I'm not going to get anywhere.

I am currently typing from an HP laptop, and I have 3 other HP computers in my house. I've only ever had minor problems with the computers. I have NEVER called tech support, but I have gone to the Geek Squad at Best Buy a couple times (mostly viruses, not the computer). The Geek Squad is amazing!!

I don't know why people go to these "squads" in retail chains for their computer problems, especially software related ones. They don't do anything that I can't do by myself FOR FREE.

If I'm traveling or something, I bring a book to read.

I agree, I don't like laptops for many reasons.

You should have just said yes, lol.
