We have 10 pineapple plants in our yard. Nothing better than taking one out of your own garden. 
We let them stay on the plant until they turn all yellow. That's when they are the sweetest! Then you cut off the crown, let it dry outside for a week or so, plant it and in a couple of years it's starts producing pineapples
