#1 Postby TexasStooge » Mon Sep 26, 2011 1:14 pm

Dallas-based actor/broadcaster Jerry Haynes, known by his fans as "Mr. Peppermint" died at 84 from complications due to Parkinson's Disease. His show "Mr. Peppermint", retitled as "Peppermint Place" from 1975 to the show's end in 1996 became the longest-running locally-produced show in WFAA-TV's history. Eventually, the show was syndicated to 108 other markets across the country. He also appeared in more than 50 motion pictures, including "Places in the Heart," "Robo Cop" and "Boys Don't Cry." He starred in a variety of TV movies and shows as well, among them: "Dallas" and "Walker, Texas Ranger." He also witnessed the JFK assassination in 1963 when he was at Dealey Plaza. The TV icon will surely be missed.

Jerry Haynes a.k.a. Mr. Peppermint wrote:I want to remind you: Sometimes things don't go too well and you're not feeling a real good mood. When you feel unhappy, nothing seems worthwhile. Just give yourself a peppermint mint and you will wear a smile.
