Doesn't it work like they announce the Top 10 and the winner (#1) isn't announced until Jan.31? If you lost, then your entry would be somewhere in the top 9 right?

No we didnt even make it in the top 10. The released the top 10 vote getters jan 20 then it went to judges who would chose the winner from the top 10..I dont know how many votes I recieved because they didnt disclose the number but said the top vote getters had like over 1000 votes
