Limp Bizkit Sued By Fans; Still No Sign Of Tour

Limp Bizkit was sued Wednesday (October 8) by 172 Chicago concertgoers, who say they were ripped off when the band left the stage after 17 minutes during a July 26 performance, according to http://www.TheSmokingGun.com. The suit, filed in Cook County Circuit Court, claims Limp Bizkit cut short its set at Cicero's Hawthorne Racetrack after instigating fans with "obscene and profane messages" displayed "via four giant monitors." The complaint also alleges that Durst yelled "disgusting homophobic and anti-gay statements" at the crowd, and took his microphone with him to continue his diatribe even after leaving the stage.

The breach-of-contract suit, filed by attorney Michael Young, seeks a $25 refund for each attendee of the concert, which was a Summer Sanitarium tour date that also featured Linkin Park and headliner Metallica. Tickets cost $75 each.

This is the second such lawsuit by concertgoers in Chicago this year. A Cook County judge recently dismissed a similar lawsuit against Creed, filed by four fans who attended the band's concert there on December 29, 2002. The suit claimed that singer Scott Stapp "was so intoxicated and/or medicated that he was unable to sing the lyrics of a single Creed song." The plaintiffs were seeking a refund of their ticket price and parking fees.

Although there are no current touring plans for Limp Bizkit, the band's DJ Lethal told LAUNCH that the songs on their new album, Results May Vary, were written with live performance in mind: "Most of our songs, we try to write so when we picture ourselves on a stage in front of 50,000 people, we just try to imagine what the crowd would react to, and how it would feel, and just try to plan out the parts where they're gonna jump, or the parts where they're gonna relax or chill. You try to build a roller coaster."

The next single from Results May Vary is a cover of the Who's "Behind Blue Eyes." The video for the clip was directed by lead singer Fred Durst and features an appearance by actress Halle Berry. The song also appears in Berry's upcoming movie Gothika, which comes out November 21.

Speculation about Berry's relationship with Durst has been fierce ever since the shoot. Durst has reportedly visited Berry at least twice on movie sets, and the actress recently separated from her husband, singer Eric Benet.

Results May Vary, Limp Bizkit's first album in three years, entered the Billboard album chart last week at Number Three, selling over 325,000 copies.
