(10/18/03, 7 a.m. ET) -- Marilyn Manson was the target of a protest Thursday (October 16) by dozens of bible-waving evangelical Christians in Monterrey, Mexico, according to Reuters. About 100 people prayed and sang hymns for the soul of the shock rocker, who performs in the northern Mexican city on November 5.

Organizer Arsenia Campos, whose daughter was murdered last year by a young man claiming to be involved with a Satanic cult, said, "We are praying for him so that he can know God and become transformed." Despite the protest, concert promoters said the show would go on.

Meanwhile, Manson brought his live show to Denver on Tuesday night (October 14). It was Manson's first appearance in Denver since Ozzfest 2001, when he also faced protests. Manson and Colorado have had an uneasy relationship ever since he was made one of the cultural scapegoats for 1999's Columbine shootings. According to the Denver Post, Manson told the crowd, "It's very nice to come back to Denver without wearing a bulletproof vest."

Manson is offering a mask of his own face for sale on his website. Each copy of the Halloween mask is individually hand crafted and taken directly from a casting of Manson's face. The mask is selling for $50.

Manson plays tonight in Chicago, and tomorrow night, October 18, in Milwaukee.

The news article refers to it as a protest, but the people are praying for him. Since when is prayer a protest?

IMHO, if praying is protest I protest several times a day... and I protest all of my wxbuddies, too!

In this case praying is a form of protest. They feel he is an evil person and are praying for him to find God.

I suppose so. I just normally picture protestors as demonstrators with signs and such.
