The Race Game

Blackmon Says Race Played A Role In Election Defeat

State Senator Barbara Blackmon says she would be Mississippi's new lieutenant governor if her skin color was different.

Blackmon garnered just over 322,000 votes, or 37 percent, in her loss to Republican Lieutenant Governor Amy Tuck in Tuesday's general election.

Blackmon said at her campaign headquarters Thursday that she and probably more than 300,000 voters believe her election bid failed because she is black.

The comment was greeted with loud applause from those gathered for the news conference. It was Blackmon's first public appearance since her defeat.

Blackmon and Democratic treasurer candidate Gary Anderson both lost their bids to become Mississippi's first black statewide officials since Reconstruction.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If this were true, why is she in the Senate? I am so sick of this race game among politicians of all breeds. She did not get elected because she is a radical. She voted against tort-reform, voted for removing school prayer, Pro-Choice but brought up abortion in her campaign. She voted against law enforcement cracking down on street gangs, she voted against drug and crime prevention in Coastal counties of MS. Anything that says "law enforcement" she voted against. She voted against school discipline. It was her voting record which caused her loss, not because she is black.

Ok if that were True Would of Mayor John Street in Philadelphia be Mayor again? Or Even Mayor at that if that were the case. He won by a landslide here in Philly. Now come on and people wander why they look bad or lose ya know.

THey had to have a reason they are losers and 'voila, lets pull out the race card. Funny thing here, racism would be dead long ago if it weren't for the blacks that keep it alive.

Sad, Sad, Sad

I heard something similar, but with a twist, on the radio today about the Houston mayoral race. Sylvester Turner, who is black, said his worst opponent in the race was the outgoing mayor, Lee Brown, who is also black. He felt that Brown's behavior in office led to voters being discriminatory towards Turner because of his race.

I don't live in Houston, so I don't know what behavior he's talking about. I haven't heard anything.

Brown was a bit of a goon. I can't put my mind around a specific goonish thing among the many that have gone on around his tenure- but they left me with the slimy feeling that he's just a goon. If he were running again I wouldn't vote for him. ;)

But then again I'm strange anyways

maybe they lost because they are liberal, and racist themselves.
