Thsi just in from FoxNews; Tim Bueler, a student at Rancho Cotate HS (30 miles N of San Fransisco) started a "Conservative Club" on campus, which has 77 members.
Due to a recent editorial concerning illegal immigration, Bueler has been harassed, some Latino students threatened to "beat him up"...and the school's teachers are turning a blind eye.
The principal, rather than confronting or disciplining the abusive students, told BUELER to "go home and cool off"; and one teacher has posted flyers all over campus urging students to "stand up against the neo-conservative 'wingnuts".
Bueler is considering filing suit against the school, its principal, and the school board. This promises to become a "test case'"for what constitutes "freedom of speech".

Hard to say how this might turn out. It's always been my understanding that it's "Congress" who can make no laws abridging freedom of speech. However, schools as well as, say, weather forums, can dictate rules of courtesy, conduct, and content in order to keep order and civility.

Kuhlmeier, the Supreme Court ruled "educators do not offend the First Amendment by exercising editorial control over the style and content of student speech in school-sponsored expressive activities so long as their actions are reasonably related to legitimate pedagogical concerns."

After having seen Tim on FoxNews, and having read what was written in his club's "newsletter" (to wit, "Every Mohammed, Jamal and Pedro" should be expelled from the US) and listening to him being interviewed?
Well listen up, ladies and gents!
He's a "skinhead" white supremacist in sheep's ("conservative") clothing. He may have the right to express himself, but he is NOT...I repeat, NOT indicative of the norm for TRULY consrvative circles.
It's kids like this who claim the mantle of "conservative", but give us all a "bad rep".
I changed the title of this post in eflection of getting the "whole" story...which wasn't available until I saw it on the "O'Reilly Factor" this evening. My apologies for the apparent confusion.
And for those radical liberals out there who'd love to "flame" me..when I make a mistake, I admit it openly.
