There's no later, John. Sooner is the key; now is best. Don't put yourself in a position where you might get burned.

General Measures:
If you receive e-mails that you find threatening or disturbing [John, you said yourself that it was creepy], it is important to keep a chronological record of each e-mail. It is equally important that you not respond to any contact. Copy each e-mail to a disk and then print it, retaining disks and printed copies of the letters with all the other logs.
If you use America Online, be sure to save all e-mails in your PFC (Personal Filing Cabinet) also.
When printing the e-mail it is important to print it with the complete header. The header contains the ISP (Internet Service Provider). If this information does not automatically occur when you print, then go to the Help menu of your Internet Service Provider and type in 'print e-mail with header information' for assistance.
America Online allows for seven screen names. Set up other screen names to give to your family and friends and co-workers, so that only your stalker has the original e-mail address.
If your ISP allows you several screen names or email address on your account (such as AOL), do not use your Master screen name--the one you signed up for service on--for anything other than making changes to your account. Block all e-mail and Instant Message capabilities and do not give it out to anyone. You cannot delete your Master screen name without deleting your entire account. Using the Master screen name, set up your other e-mail accounts and set the appropriate parental controls. Technical support can assist you in doing this.
