Blair: Baghdad battle imminent

#1 Postby bfez1 » Mon Mar 24, 2003 2:47 pm

March 24 — With advance elements of the American invasion force now engaging Iraqi Republican Guard units south of Baghdad, U.S. and British troops struggled on Monday to put down Iraqi forces bypassed during the swift advance north. Officials on both sides insisted their forces had gained the upper hand, with Iraq highlighting American casualties and U.S. commanders dismissing Iraqi resistance as “sporadic.” Britain’s Prime Minister Tony Blair said the battle for Baghdad was imminent. “This will be a crucial moment,” he said.

Crucial Moment indeed - lets the forces of the Coalition show how superior they are......
