That is exactly what happened this morning! I was there downtown, and they out of nowhere got me a surprise b-day cake as well as a nice card! As far as this evening, it was great too! I got 50$ from my folks and the restaurant gave us a cake and I got a 20$ gift card! You guys are really making me tear up...thank you all!

You're friendship w/ Steve Horstmeyer reminds me of the time in January 1981 when I wrote a fan letter to met Ira Joe Fisher (when he worked for WKRC-TV12...was then on ABC)...anyway Ira was on the news team w/ chief anchor Nick Clooney at the time and I was so VERY excited when Ira responded and I found an Accu-Weather stationary typed letter from him!!
He told me about when he had lived in Spokane, WA for a time and it was during when Mt. St. Helen's erupted and how the ash darkened the sky around his area and also how he learned to draw (self-taught), etc! 
I never met Ira Joe in person but he's always been a special person to me in the world of weather! It was one of my saddest days when Nick retired from WKRC and moved to California for awhile...and when Ira moved to Buffalo, NY before eventually going to Manhattan (NYC). 
You can still catch Ira Joe on the CBS Saturday Early Show!

Nick - I just love Nick Clooney!!! If he moved to Ohio, ran for office, I'd vote for him! Ah, but he's running for office in KY, his home-state. To those that don't realize this, Northern KY is our neighbor in Cincinnati - cities such as Maysville (where the Clooney's are from, that would be GEORGE's family too) are along the Ohio River, just as Cincy is along the same river. I think we all look at that river as if it's one big highway, just something that separates us from our southern friends. I always wonder if people really understand all of this when they hear Cincy folks say they remember the Clooney's well, but then realize they're from KY! Or that our Cincy airport is in KY! Now that is one that's hard to figure out. Guess the Hyde Park or Indian Hill (our two richest Cincy surburbs) folks didn't want an airport built there way back when? But we all call it the Cincinnati airport. LOL Well to be technical, Greater Cincinnati Airport. Back to Nick and family. He and his wife Nina were patients in the doc's office I worked at from 1975-1985. Nina is just so nice, equally as nice as Nick - gracious, kind and so pretty (former beauty queen). So we office workers enjoyed talking to the Clooney's back then when they'd come in. Nick never sat in a chair while waiting to be called back to a room - he would stand at our reception counter and talk with US! Definitely a people person. That's why he'll do well in politics I think. I even named my daughter after Nina Clooney, in a way. I just loved her name too! So when I got pregnant, Nina Bosken sounded so well together! Then when George made the big time on ER, I would say my Nina is named after George's Mom! Kind of but hopefully you get my meaning. When people like the Clooney's make a very positive impression on you, it just stays with you. Similar to how you feel Eric. And Jeremy, I predict your heart is going to stay with Channel 12. That station has always, always, managed to hire the best anchormen/women, met's, etc. I don't know what their secret is but they have that gift for seeing true talent. Contrast that to Channel 5, where former anchorman Jerry Springer resided for years (and was popular to give him due credit) and I rest my case! Somehow I just can't see Nick ever doing a show like the Jerry Springer. I rest my case twice!
Got off on a tangent there!!! Swinging this back to your big day Jeremy! Glad it was a good one!!! Hope you get to that skatepark today but it sure looks stormy today! You might want to get there early. My youngest daughter Laura is into extreme sports and keeps wanting to see it. One of these we'll take her there.

Also, I do highly recommend that Laura do check out the skate park here...I love hanging out there on good days when I'm free! Heck, one day you guys could be there when I am, and we'd be able to meet one another!

If I ever see you there Jeremy you can certain I'll introduce myself! We have a new skatepark over here in Anderson also - at the new remodeled Beech Acres Park. I'm sure the skatepark there is much smaller than the one in Florence but I hear teens over here like it. As we were coming home from our family reunion near Paducah, KY we drove thru downtown Louisville (instead of taking their circle freeway around the city). We saw their skatepark and let's just say half asleep Laura sure woke up when she saw that! Have you ever been to the Louisville one Jeremy?

Did you ever get the chance to hear Ira Joe read his poetry that he wrote about the changing seasons while working at WKRC? That was another talent of Ira's and also for awhile he co-hosted w/ Janet Davies on the PM Magazine Show that featured various stories around Cincy each week!
One time when Ira Joe was doing the weather out on a Manhattan street during a CBS Saturday Early Show some tourists approached him and they were from Cincinnati and so Ira made mention of his days working there and how he always will hold a special place in his heart for the Queen City! That made me mist up and smile big when he did that and he also mentioned his love for Skyline Chili!
BTW...Janet Davies later on married another met who had been w/ WKRC named Steve Deshler.

Well I called my "gal" (as GD called her), but haven't heard from her yet...expect to soon and will likely go to see her tonight and likely take her out for dinner next weekend...thanks y'all!
