What about?

I'm overwhelmed at the destruction of the earthquake in Indonesia.....it's just unbelievable. My question, did this earthquake, that slowed the earths rotation by 3 microseconds, and literally moved islands, have an effect on compass readings, deleniations, and the "true" atomic clock?

And yet another question, what about GPS readings in that area? If the quake made the Earth "wobble" on it's axis, there HAS to be SOME kind of magnetic disruption.....

And yet another question, could the "wobble" at the axis have an effect on the weather patters?

Wow interesting stuff, I wonder if it will effect the weather pattern? I mean 3 microseconds for this huge planet is a good slow down, lol, but still WOW, wonders, wonders, wonders

The reason for bringing these issues up is the fact that we USE GPS, compasses EVERY single DAY with our Search and Rescue Unit, police dept, etc.....would, could it have changed the deleniation (sp) we have to incorporate into our compasses, we have to set 6° in deleniation???

Actually it was accelerated 3 microseconds.

Compass Readings: No. The only thing that affects compass readings is the position of the magnetic south pole (currently in Western Canada...and yes SOUTH, in terms of magnetism...if you want geographic terms, you can say north). Eventually there will be a period of time where there is no magnetic poles because of the magnetic field switching.

Deleniations: No. Still only to do with locations of the magnetic south pole, and then the true north pole on earth. The poles are not located in space, therefore no difference.

Atomic Clock: possible, but it is not a noticable change.

GPS: No. The magnetic poles have nothing to do with GPS. GPS uses satellites to position you around the globe.

Magnetic Disruption: No.

Weather Patterns: The wobble was 1 inch, so I seriously doubt it will have a phenomenal effect on anything whatsoever.
