Workplace survival strategies

#1 Postby coriolis » Wed May 07, 2003 4:21 pm

Seeing bfez's post, it inspired me to contribute this. Here's some strategies for at work. I think that I've heard some of them before, but some i've figured out too.

1. when wandering around the office, whether going for coffee, to the bathroom, or for a cigarette, always carry an important looking piece of paper. Glance at it and look serious. No one will wonder whether you are goofing off.

2. Always keep your area cleaner than your bosses. If something becomes lost, you have some cover.

3. Either arrive at work before your boss, or leave after your boss. This way you will avoid being questioned whether you are getting your 8 hours in.

4. Keep the settings on your computer so small so that someone walking by can't see what you are typing.

I'll see if I can find some more tonight.

Kind of hard to do with a big black and orange Storm2k screen up isn't it? :-)

Yeah, I scrunch the window way down in the corner and sit right in front of it, and keep other things right there so a quick mouse click covers it! I think that they arrange the cubicles so that everyone can see what you're doing.
