Large Tire Fire (Tar Far) over southeast Wisconsin

Ya know it's big when you can see a smoke plume that huge. Looks nasty.

A LARGE...VISIBLE SMOKE PLUME IS ASSOCIATED WITH A TIRE FIRE JUST
NORTH OF WATERTOWN...IN EXTREME SOUTHERN DODGE COUNTY.

LOW-LEVEL WINDS ARE OUT OF THE WEST AROUND 5 MPH AT THE SCENE OF THE
FIRE...SO AT LOW-LEVELS THE SMOKE PLUME IS DRIFTING WEST TO EAST. AT
1000 TO 2000 FEET ABOVE THE GROUND THE WINDS ARE OUT OF THE WEST-
NORTHWEST AT AROUND 10 MPH.

SATELLITE IMAGES SHOW THE SMOKE PLUME EXTENDING EAST-SOUTHEAST
THROUGH THE NORTHEASTERN CORNER OF JEFFERSON COUNTY...TO JUST
NORTH OF OCONOMOWOC...TO HARTLAND...TO JUST NORTH OF THE CITY OF
WAUKESHA...TO WEST ALLIS. THE PLUME WILL PROBABLY DRIFT TO NEAR
MILWAUKEE MITCHELL FIELD BY AROUND 1 PM.

IN MILWAUKEE COUNTY...THE SMOKE PLUME APPEARS TO BE ABOUT 5 TO 6
THOUSAND FEET ABOVE THE GROUND LEVEL.

Sure was. It was quite impressive actually - on the IR imagery you could see pyrocumulus that had developed over the smoke plume. Radar out of Green Bay also showed a light shower with it, which was pretty cool.

The fire today was huge - there was a tall black plume of smoke due east of Madison for much of the day. I was gonna take some pics but of course my $#^#!* digital camera died on me.
