Hey folks!!

WHEW.........this has been a helluva week! Massive chaos at work........mayhem at its best!! I will be so glad to see Friday!

I have court today at 4 for one of my Guardian cases and then I have a meeting at church to try to organize a Mission to RUSSIA!! Wouldn't that be AWESOME??!! We have been asked to possibly come over there and open an AA house and help build an AA community. I am so excited! I hope it works out to where we can go!! Say a small prayer that God leads us and pray that WE listen to HIM!! :D

Have a great day folks and if I survive today, I will see you on the porch tomorrow!

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Reasons are totally different from excuses. There is a reason for us being the way we are; an excuse is what keeps us that way.

Arizona is Burning-Again

#1182 Postby Aslkahuna » Thu Jun 19, 2003 7:30 pm

As ArizWx and I have been posting on the USA message board, the fire situation on Mt. Lemmon is critical. There's also another fire SE of Tucson in the Rincons that has blown up along with another further to the north. That one is no threat to structures however. Winds are expected to be strong again tomorrow.

Steve... keep us updated on the fire situation. I can only imagine how scary that must be. :o

GulfBreezer, keep us updated on how things go. :)

I will leave some lemonade on the front porch if anyone needs to quench their thirst this evening. ;)

Lemonade? That would be great, Garrett - thanks!
BTW, did you ever get that package?

Steve, I sure wish AZ had the rain that we have had -
every day this week - pouring down, clothes-drenching,
hair-flopping, run-your-wiindsheild wipers-on-high soakers....
Not all day, mind you, but enough to make a soggy point!
Ya'll stay safe out there!

Russia, Gulfbreezer? That would be sooooo cool! I hope
it falls into place for you!

Everyone have a great evening!

Good Evening Porch Friends!

I guess I got out of the habit of stopping by the porch once I got the boot from you-know-where.

Anyway, I love the nice refreshing breeze that we're getting. It's so peaceful here!

My oldest cat, Derby, has been ill for quite sometime. The vet says he has kidney disease, liver disease, but he's got a strong ticker!! :D Anyway, last week we had to bring him in to remove two teeth that had absessed and blew up his one side of his face. Now, the cat barely weighs 8 ounds to begin with, so you could imagine the sight! Marty, the ex-cat hater, started to cry when he first saw him. Well, to make a long story short, he's doing fine now. We had noticed that during the last few trips to the vet, they had been giving him IV fluids and he's been alittle perkier. Last night we went back to fill him up so to speak, and they showed me how to do it. It doesn't seem that difficult - just doing it the first time will probably be a little nerve wracking but I'm sure it'll go well.

Another sick-bay report - Marty had surgery on one of his toes which was MAJORLY deformed from years of karate. His "Mommy" took him this morning and he's home keeping his leg raised. They say that the recouperation period will be about 6 weeks - WE'LL BOTH GO CRAZY BY THEN!!! :o

Hellos to everyone! Have a great evening!

Staphanie....six weeks might be long...but it would be a LOT longer if it were January! Good luck with the recuperation time for both human and animal healing.

Air pressure at 29.58" here in Phoenix is a harbinger of another windy day across the state tomorrow. That does not bode well for any fires. Also...humidities will likely drop. Good news, if you can call it that, is that temps will struggle to hit 100. If nothing else, that is good news to the firefighters.

Sandi...one of those weeks. Sometimes we have "one of those weeks" every week! That's when it really piles on.

Let's pray a door opens for the Russian trip.

Had a little conversation with streetsoldier tonight....and coppertop even answered the phone! Please keep them in your prayers.

Kathy and I head to San Diego midday tomorrow (be fighting a headwind on I-8) to see Emma and her parents until Sunday am. Will have some new pix by the end of the weekend! She's almost 11 months old! Can you believe it?

Only brief messages til then. Have a good weekend.

I'll look forward to seeing those pics of your little Emma!

I finally got my haircut today after putting it off for a while. And to answer your questions, it was the third hair from the left :D.

Had some decent rains 'round these parts. At my house, there wasn't a whole lot of activity, but just north of the city of Raleigh proper there was a band of more than an inch of rain over the course of the two or three hours that the storms were a-storming. We have had about 3.18" of rain this month, which is 150% of normal thus far. The lawn looks great, especially compared to last year when the whole backyard ended up dying by the early fall (before the rains really kicked in).

David...did you play more than one hole? That would have been my score heading to the second tee.

WM... Glad your grass is growing, but that does mean mowing more often! :)

Steve, you have fun with Emma. She is growing up quickly and be sure to fill us in when you get back!

David... your 11 over par may be the top score on the front porch tonight. Shannon and Steve... maybe we could form a S2K golf team, but we will change the rules -- the high score wins!

Have a good Friday everyone,
Garrett :multi:

I actually like mowing the lawn. It's a nice low intensity activity. I recite Chaucer to myself or just muse about interesting things.

It was 9 holes. Sorry I didn't clear that up earlier. Yeah, 11 over par on a 9 hole golf course. ;)

Miss Mary

Hello fellow Porchians! I've been remiss in not popping in more often. My apologies! Just wanted to pop in somewhere (and not start a new topic) that I'll be away on vacation until the 28th. I doubt I'll post while away. Hubby brings his laptop and I find that tiny screen just so easy to read while on vacation (40+ eyes here, LOL)! So I do think I'll take a full break from email and the boards. I will miss you all!!!! See you when I get back. And you know I'll pop in, first stop will be Storm2K I'm sure. Even before email....SOP these days!

Good Morning,

Like Miss Mary, I've been remiss in visiting the porch *sigh*..this has been a tough coupla days like Sandi said geeesh, the fires, my friend passing on, forecast winds of over 40 MPH with all the fires going on, God only knows how this day will end.

Like I posted, we had a true blessing last night, went to the Harvest Crusade and got to listen to Dennis Agajanian, the #1 Christian Country/Gospel Singer in the WORLD  That was the bright spot of the night let me tell ya, lifted me from my doom and gloom attitude fer sure 8-)

I cannot believe the Aspen Fire near Tucson, over 250 homes lost with forecast winds in excess of "60 MPH" today  Like the Gov. of Az said on the news last night at 10pm, how ironic, another huge fire on the first anniversary of ours, whisper a little prayer for us would ya???

Sandi.......funny you should mention your mission to Russia, Dennis Agajania JUST returned from a mission in the farmost remote part of Russia, he said HE was truly blessed from his mission, may God see you through and send you on this mission!

That's all for me, I need another cuppa joe!

Good morning porchians,

I am sooooo glad it's Friday. It's been a tough week. I'm a little frightened about smoking over the weekend, but I think I'll handle it.

Dennis, I'm sorry about your friend. The devil is going to have a much tougher time now with a wonderful fireman in Heaven. I can't believe it's been a year!!! What a nightmare that was for you and Michelle. The best phone call I got was when you came home safe and sound. You know my prayers are going out for the folks affected by the fires in your area now too. ((Hugs)) to you my friend. Let's see what we can do about that little black cloud that keeps following you.

Stephanie, God Bless you Girl. SIX WEEKS!!!! I think you should talk to Michelle about this. If I'm not mistaken, she got Combat Pay when Dennis was recuperating. jk Dennis

Poppysky, it seems like only yesterday that little Emma was born. She's such a sweetie.

David, that means you bogied 7 holes and double bogied two other (or something like that). That's not bad!!

Garrett, a golf team is a GREAT idea!!!

Ok guys, I better get busy here. I'll put on a fresh pot of coffee and leave some warm KK's on the banister. Have a great day.

Take care

Good Morning!

WET, WET here in the FL PH! TGIF!!! I have had about enough of this week and am ready for a week-end (although they go by WAY too fast)!

I was unable to make the meeting last night for the Russian Mission, borderline migraine hit about 5:00pm and kept me from doing anything. I have already contacted the church an dthey know how interested I am and I will have more info later. Say a prayer that God shows me His will and that I recieve it with the least amount of resistance.

Steve- I know you will have a wonderful week-end with Emma! She is such a beautiful little angel, as is the rest of your family. You are very blessed!

Dennis- It is amazing how God puts just the right people in your life at just the right time. Like being able to experience Dennis' music and comforting words exactly when you needed it the most.

Thanks you all for the well wishes and prayers for the Russian Mission and I will keep you all posted.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
God can make miracles out of mistakes :D
