Been swamped today trying to clean my room, surf the Net, watch the weather, etc... plus working on my a/c situation ... YIKES! :o :o :o

Mild here ... today's high was 78. Nice compared to the 80+'s of late.

I might take a vacation soon. I need it after all of the stress that I have been under recently. :(

C y'all later. Joshua

After reading about all the vacations and trips and need for time off, I realize I am still two months away from a real vacation...so have to keep my nose to the grindstone. Josh, hope you can get a break though...always nice to have that to look forward to.

I'd love to go back to Epcot again...could happen one of these years! Hope it works out for you, Bronny. And bet you had a good time, too, Donna.

Wow...those GPA's are terrific. They speak volumes about who you are Garrett and Sandi!

And Raine...you know how proud of I am of you and your shot with the airlines. Hope it works out for all of you.

Thunder and lightning produced a dozen raindrops in the pool last evening, and a storm popped up west of Phoenix this morning, moving the other way. Maybe a better chance for the real thing tonight. After the hottest July on record, a soaker or two would feel real good.

Hand painting some grapevines as artwork in the kitchen this weekend. Saturday yielded 5 leaves and a bunch of grapes. Have about 25 leaves and 3 bunches to do, so this project will last well beyond today. Good therapy for a weekend.

Have a nice day everyone.

Evening friends!!

Hoooooo Doggie it was a hot one today at the "port"..I think I sweated at least five pounds off....okay, okay perhaps that's wishful thinking, but it sure was hot :D

skyman...wish I could borrow you...I've wanted to do a little something like that in my kitchen since forever...thing is I lack the patience for that kind of artwork...it is soooo pretty when it's done, a labor of love so to speak....thanks for your encouragement to my friend...means so much, as I'm sure you know :D

I made some chocolate chip cookies to share, they are fresh out of the oven...come and get yours before my Tom and children sniff them out....once they get a whiff, there will be nothing left but crumbs!

Have a blessed night everyone!

Good Monday Morning From The Front Porch! :)

I know it is a Monday, but I am in a great mood this morning. Hope everyone had a great weekend. We had a blast with the music festival. We had a huge crowd on Saturday especially. :D

Hope everyone enjoys their Monday!

Good Morning!

Finally....haven't been around too much the last coupla afternoons or evenings......the reason, STORMS!! Sunday night (it started at 2330 and lasted till 0200!) was one of the most intense storms I've seen in MANY, MANY years, such intense lightning that we couldn't place the thunder with a strike, no time between the lightning and the thunder too, I received 1.72" of rain from that cell. We had another yesterday afternoon, not quite as intense nor did it have as much moisture with it!

Anyways, not much else to report, just staying busy, we're starting work a little earlier to beat the storms.......so until later, make it a great day would ya?

Dennis... it is good news finally that the monsoons have now started!! Haven't they?

We are rain free here, at least for a few days. I finally got to do some much needed yard work over the weekend.

Wow, so much going on I don't know where to start!!

Raine, one of those trips better be to Houston to visit me in my big city!!!! I still smile every time I remember our time in NYC!! By the way, currently I have been getting my emails to your hotmail account returned and I'm not even sending you anything nasty! Have you been having problems with the email? Oh, CONGRATS ON THE JOB!!!! Are you working at Wilkes-Barre International?  BTW, thanks for the chocolate KK!!! It's been a while!

Josh, I'm like Raine on the AC. Gotta have it!!! I mean it wouldn't be right if I didn't since I live in the most airconditoned city in the world. This time of year we can't live without the AC with our Heat indices hitting the 105º-110º range on an almost daily basis. You know you are getting used to the heat when you go out on the porch with the thermometer reading 91º and you comment on how "pleasant" it is!! :o

Good news for part of the VB clan today. Our daughter took a new job today that is giving her a $10,000 a year raise!!! It is exactly what she wanted in her chosen field of advertising too!

I am still looking and sending out resumes, but the engineering sector is still real slow here in Houston. I mean if I and at least 5 headhunters can't find me a job you know it is slow. Fortunately the Good Lord has kept us financially viable so far. I could grow to like this house husband stuff if it would pay the darn bills!! :D

GB, Garrett, and Pojo, you all are doing superb jobs with your schooling!!! I won't tell you how many times my GPA approached a 3.0. but suffice it to say you don't need any fingers or toes to count it!!

Well, hugs and kissess and handshakes as you want them everyone. time for some beauty sleep!!

HELLO! It's sooo good to have the time to write in and say hello to everyone...it seems like my summer gets more hectic by the day, but I promised myself I would take the time to read my emails and catch up on the boards today!

My 2 cents worth on ginger....when we cruise, we take ginger capsules 3 days prior and during the whole cruise...if the boat gets rocky, we double the dose...and it totally works and we've never been sea sick! Ginger is a very good thing!

Our latest drama...last week we were doggie sitting for our good friends who kitty sit for us, when we travel, you know, returning the favor.... We had a great big St. Bernard and and an iddy bitty Pom as house guests...well, on Thursday, the iddy bitty pom was found DEAd in our backyard ! How awful is that? We are not sure what happened to her...B had been outside with her that morning, and had only come in for his shower, then back downstairs to find her. Its been an awful week! We took the dog to her vet, so our friends could decide what to do with her when they got home...and opted to not ruin their vacation...they take one everyone 4 years or so...They came home Monday, and were crushed...the wife nearly passed out, the kids freaked out...soooo very sad. Needless to say, I haven't slept well, or eaten much, worried about the whole thing. Unfortunatly, these are the kind of friends who blame others for everything, and aren't real realistic that bad things happen sometimes, and no ones to blame. (We haven't heard from them again, not returning my calls). Isn't this the pits?!

Anyway....WHO'S going to Cancun?! I wanna go...lol. Have a great time! NCL cancelled our sailing on the Norway, bc the ship will not be in service again until 2004 sometime...bummer...so I need to change my sig...lol. Looks like we'll wait til January for the next one, but ya never know.....lol.

Well Raine, did I hear you've gotten a job with an airline? Great news! Enjoy! I'm homeschooling the kids again this year...

THANKS to all who have sent in your fabulous recipes and spent the time on telling Chloe about your fine states...MUAH! Finished product will not be until Spring...or summer....

Well, Grimmy is IMing me, and I need to catch up with her....take care everyone!

Good afternoon everyone! Sure is a nice day to be on the front porch! I have missed out on sooooo much in the last few months, I don't even know where to start, and it will take far more time than I am alotted here at the library, so I figured I would just say hi and pop into my favorite places!

So many posts and lots of new faces! Hope you all didn't forget about me! It is rough not to be able to come on here and talk to all of you like I want to, but I can only make it to the library when I have days off, which isn't often! Got lots of bills to pay

I hope you all are doing well, and I will try to stop in more often, but for now I have to go, only have a few more minutes left! Miss y'all!

Good Afternoon Porch Sitters!

Furry, sorry to hear about your dog sitting mishap. It may take your friends a little while to get over the death of their pet. Just be patient with them.

Jacki!!!!! We've missed you and your perkiness! Try to make lots & lots of trips to the library!

Jacki... we understand the struggles of life. We are glad you grace us with your positive posts when you get a chance. Are you still working at the truck wash? Hang in there kiddo... things will look up! ;)

I hope everyone is enjoying their Wednesday. I have finally had a day to relax a little. The fall semester is approaching quickly and I still have a lot I want to do. Hopefully, I can fit it all in. :D

Good Evening!

WHEW.......whatta day, BUCKETS of rain 8-) 2.43" total, it started raining at 1140 or there abouts and is STILL drizzling at the moment, I can see flashes of lightning off to the east from my desk here so I will make this short once again.

Furry.........I am SOOOO sorry to hear about your mishap....ya know, I'm gonna be REALLY, REALLY blunt and to the point......."IF" those ppl don't understand, like you said, bad things DO happen, then my dear friend, "THEY" are NOT your friends and they certainly are NOT worth your time and effort. I can't even imagine how your feeling at the moment, PLEASE try to put this behind you and find some new friends, ones who understand "Stuff happens!" {{{{HUGS}}}} kiddo!

JACKIE......{{{{hugs}}}} to you too 8-) Glad to have you back, we understand your situation, may the Good Lord Bless you and see you through your times of trails!

Gotta git before it hits again, until tomorrow, "May The Good Lord Bless and Keep You.......I'll leave the light on!"

Afternoon folks......

Nice hot summery day here with the cumulus getting bigger by the hour, I love to watch them build with there big heavy bellies moving in my direction and the perfect collieflower heads getting taller and taller :) One of my lifes joys is just to watch a storm form form nothing but a little fluffy cumulus into a gigantic storm (the sea breeze keeps them pinned in the distance so I get to watch them grow) Such a blessing :)

AWW furry, Im so very sorry to hear about the pet sitting.. but heed Dennis's advice he is right!

Hopefully Jacki will be able to put her head in here now and again untill she gets her puter up and going. Please if any of you would like to just drop her a letter let me know and I will give you her addy... Im sure she would love to know we have not forgotten about her and miss her :)

Nice rain you getting there Dennis.. good to hear :) How far behind are you in your rainfall for the year??

Howdy!

Gotta get my posting done before I get chased off line for another day......I've got some HUGE ol thunderheads building to my east already, forecast is calling for a 60-70% chance of flooding rains today. Amanzi.....so far, month to date, I'm sitting a -3.20", could we get that 3.20" today? :o let's hope so, NOT all at one time though!

Well.....the lawn is calling my name, I swear you'd THINK I'd learn by now, "IF" you don't fertilize, you don't have to mow so often Dennis SHeeesh! I put 25#'s of *Turf Royal* on 4 days ago and let me tell ya's, I cannot believe how QUICK the stuff works, it's the fert. they use on golf courses, I've got a *sshhhh* secret source 8-) It's GOOD STUFF MAINARD!

My Lawn

#1536 Postby Aslkahuna » Thu Jul 31, 2003 4:14 pm

doesn't even take that-I don't use any fertilizer at all. When the leaves come off the trees in the Fall, I run my mulching mower over them a few times during the Winter-my lawn responds by giving me a lot of exercise in the Summer :D I also mulch the lawn cuttings-no yard waste into the landfill from here! Actually, the city recycles the yard waste it gets and makes compost out of it which it later sells (how to help the environment without the wackos as they have nothing to do with it).

Evening folks!

I don't know where time gets to sometimes! All of a sudden life has gotten REALLY busy! LOL....I guess I could contribute that to the start up of soccer season for my two youngest.I am glad to report that our son has decided to rejoin his team. They had just started practicing when he got sick,we were not sure if he wanted to try to play again,b ut he is...I'm thankful for that.We are dealing with some issues of his, before he got sick it seemed to me that he dealt with the fact of his illness with merely a shrug, he never let it stop him from playing, going to the pool ect.But now all of a sudden he is reluctant to go places or do things where other children might find out he has to cath to empty his bladder,or see his vesicostomy site, which is why him choosing to play soccer is so wonderful.I had a talk with him today about his reluctance, but I don't think it made him feel all that much better...that's one of the most painful things to a mom....not being able to make your children feel better about things.Take it to the Lord in prayer is what I am going to do....anyway did not mean to go on about it...LOL..once my mouth opens I sometimes tend to spill my guts :D

Dear David!! I was wondering why my mailbox has been devoid of mail from you of late.....I think it was because I needed to thin my inbox a bit, I tend to let the mail pile up and then I go over my limit and sometimes they kick back mail if I'm over my limit.I'm WAY under now so do try again and let me know if you keep getting them sent back.Janell and I were just chatting the other day bout our NYC visit, she asks about you and I share with her some of the stuff you send to me....she and her hubby are due to become parents again in about four weeks...expecting a boy sometime in early september!!! Ian Thomas will be his name....I'll be sure to let you know and send you a pix of our newest bundle of joy! I'll keep you covered in prayer for that job...you know God knows EXACTLY what job he wants you to have....it's just a matter of waiting for Him to let you know.....that's always the part that takes patience...waiting on the Lord..but it's ALWAYS worth the wait for the plans He has for us is always spectacular and wonderous to see!

Awwwwww furry gal I'm so sorry that the pooch went to heaven on your watch, leaving you with friends who are not all that understanding that these things happen in life...I agree one hundred percent with Dennis!Bless your heart girl..keep your chin up, your a great friend and there was nothing you could do to prevent his demise...when it's time to go, it's time to go....had it been my hound, I'd be forever grateful that he or she was in a home where love abounded,if I could not be there I would want it to be with someone who loved and cared about my pup as much as I did....I think you and Bri are those kind of folks :) Is it still to late to contribute a recipe for Chole? I have one, just have not had the time to copy and send it....if it's not to late, I can send it off tomorrow.

Jacki....Keep the faith girl.....times like this shall pass...difficult times are when the Lord does His greatest work in us....molding us, strengthening our spirits and a whole lot more...smile....rejoice for you are surrounded by folks who keep you covered in prayer, who are standing by your side and encouraging you to keep on keeping on! Go Girl....ALL things are possible! :D

Buckets of rain eh Dennis! Glad to hear you are getting rained on..and in huge amounts.....you guys need all you can get.....maybe I can entice Karan into a little..."behind the curtains" bumping and grinding rain dancing so you can keep on getting rained on.....whadda ya say Karan??!!

Well I've gone on and on here....a tad long winded tonight!I'm going to go and see if my hubby left me any molasses cake.....silly man ate almost a half a cake yesterday....he paid for it all day today...I tell him all the time that molasses is Mother Natures xlax..but does he listen??Nooooooooooooooo........LOL....and I'm sure he'd be real pleased with me to know that I just shared with all of you that bit of information :o

Better git before he wanders on over to see what I've written!!

Have a wonderful night friends!!

Blessings, Raine

Good Morning!

Well......t- 8 hours till the inlaws arrive *HEAVY SIGH!* don't get me wrong, I love my inlaws to death, just not up close and personnal like this "LOL!" I've made myself sick over their arrival, they argue ALL the time over silly things *sigh*

On a brighter note......we had showers most of the late night and early morning and from the AFD this morning, sounds like we're REALLY gonna get pounded today....stay tuned

Can you believe it's AUGUST already??? :o My goodness, I can't believe it, I know.......as the old saying goes, "The older you get the faster it goes!" right??? Well let me tell ya, I feel like I'm on the downhill side of a rollercoaster and it's outta control!

Raine.....{hugs} to Dakota, poor kiddo, I can't even imagine what he's going thru, my best to you and yours

I fully agree Steve.....we too use our yard clippings etc for mulch, it's just that our lawn was in such terrible shape after last years evacuation and all, I had to give the lawn a shot in the arm to regenerate, it looks AWESOME this year, after last years snowpack, this years monsoons

Well, guess I'd better git......funny, our house stays SO clean, almost to the point of being sterile "LOL!" Yeah right, with 3 big HOUSE dogs  but when companys comin', you think it's NEVER clean enough (especially for Michelles mom!) SHUT UP DENNIS, your gonna be sleepin outside in the tent trailer tonight

Good Morning!! I am with you Dennis, I just cannot believe it is August already! It is so good to hear from everyone!

Timothy, my oldest son who got arrested, went to court yesterday and got offered a pre-trial diversion. Which basically just means that this will be handled out of court. He got lucky once again..........we leave August 15th to take him to the dorm at FSU and I will be leaving him there  I will be okay though, just another step in life. I have my 12 year old still at home  and my great dane Jasmine. So I am not completely alone yet.

I love reading all the posts here but by the time I get to post one myself, I have to go back an read them again to see what everyone has been up to

The tropics should be heating up soon and that will definitely keep me busy. We had so much fun in the chat room last night!! If you have time, stop by, we made veggie soup last night (don't ask, it is very complicated) It is nice chatting in real time with every one.

All of you are so awesome and I so thoroughly enjoy all the posts here and I am always just amazed by the comraderie that we all have exhibited in times of trials and tribulations. What a great bunch of folks here and I think of you guys as my friends. I just wanted to say that.....

Take care and may God bless each and every one of you with all of His glory and grace.

Sandi

:D Good Morning All

It's a rainy day here in the Burgh. Dennis if you like, I'll send you some rain from here. By the sounds of things you're getting lots of rain and are going to be stuck in the house - all night and day - with your inlaws. Are you sure you don't want to take up camp with the dogs in the tent camper????jk have a glass of wine for me!!!!

Raine, so glad Dakato is getting active again. Poor little guy. I can understand his hesitation - I mean I was so shallow when I was young that the thought of going out of the house with a big ZIT was a major thing. Geez, this kid is one of the strongest and bravest!!!!! I'm sure he's at the age where he doesn't like hugs but try to sneak one in for me. OK?? ((Hugs)) to you to. I'm closing my blinds for that rain dance for Dennis. Are ya ready???? Jiggle jiggle jiggle, bump, bump, bump and Griiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnd. Oh boy this is fun!!!!

Furry, I'm so sorry. I've pet sat before and that has always been a fear of mine. Hang in there and Dennis was right. I'm sure they were upset over the loss, but if they know you at all they would know your love for animals and the care you take with them. At some point I think they should show some compassion for you and your feelings in this matter. If they don't, you have NOT lost a true friend.

Bron, I hope you're feeling better and better every morning. Like your description of the clouds.

I brought some warm KK's for everyone to munch on. The chocolate ones are for David and Crouton can have one too.

I'll put on a fresh pot of coffee and brew some Earl Grey in case Miss Mary or Raine stop.

Have a great day everyone!!!!!
TGIF
Karan

Hey GB, the pea here. It really was fun last night!!!!
