He fell and was stepped on. As he gasped for air, shoppers ran over and around him.

This is the worst part of the whole article. Are people serious? Run over a dying guy just to get a stupid deal on some crap?

This is a tragic outcome to selfish, greedy people. My heart goes out to his family and friends tonight.....such a sad story.

I heard on the radio that a disagreement took place at a California Toys R US, one shopper took out a gun and aimed it another shopper. Not sure if the second person had a gun or not. The radio talk show host who broke this news story said it was like high noon or something surreal. In a Toys R US - with lots of kids running around.
*edit*, found the link, two dead from the CA story.

What has this world become?

People - you don't really need these items........not like you do food, a roof over your heads, warm clothes for your kid - not the latest toy or new TV........

Also fisticuffs over the last remaining XBox360 console remaining at one store. I avoid stores like the Plague on Black Friday (also the roads). Dionne, I don't know if you have connected, but Gaia is most unhappy and sad with us right now.

I totally enjoyed today...sitting around, doing little things, didn't have to put on makeup or fix my hair (scary thought huh  ). I had no desire to go out and do any shopping on such a crazy day. Shame on those greedy people who stampeded and brought guns.

We went out today the hubby and I, with my hours we're rarely together, so we bought clothes for ourselves, the deals at Kohls were very good and there really wasn't any rudeness, though I think if we were still living in Philly it wouldn't be that way. The store was crowded but people were polite it was scary! THen we went to Kmart to get his knock-around shirts he wanted for when he cleans and that was not busy either.

All in all it was not bad. I do wish we could have found a place to buy ammo, we need to stock up and I refuse to shop in Smell...err Walmart.

I didn't do too much either. Marty went for a motorcycle ride and I puttered around, but didn't really do anything. I turned on the Discover channel to watch "Deadliest Catch" and had it on the whole day. It was a 24 hour marathon. I am totally hooked! I couldn't help but think of "The Perfect Storm".

I'm going to hit the shower and then venture out today to the stores.

I really don't understand how people could be so callous and trample that poor man AND the workers that were trying to help him. One of the shoppers exclaimed when they were told to leave that they were on line since Thursday. HELLO??? Someone was just murdered and all you can think about is yourself? Merry Christmas indeed! :grr:

Hi Dionne,

I was referring to the Culture of Death in the way Pope John Paul did:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Culture_of_death

as mentioned in the Wikipedia article, what happened yesterday would fall under the "self absorption" category, for sure, since it was the ultimate in selfishness...

No Christ in Christmas as far as those people are concerned. I'm sure many of them are church going people which makes them hypocrites given their attitude.

Sick all I can say. :grr: I can't believe some people take Black Friday so seriously. I tend to avoid shopping places on Black Friday. It's just a marketing hype. You can get good deals anytime of the year. Kinda takes away the meaning of Christmas.

I know Steve. We're supposed to be doing better, after all we are capable of abstract thought. We're on the verge of an evolutionary event. Our status as saprophytes is becoming parasitic. The paradise Earth will survive.....we will not. Just go up around 40K feet and look down at what we have done to Earth. It is a miserable shame. For those of you curious enough to investigate it's known as the Gaea or Gaia theory.

Sought: Shoppers who trampled Wal-Mart worker to death

<snippets>
Other workers were trampled as they tried to rescue the man, and customers stepped over him and became irate when officials said the store was closing because of the death, police and witnesses said.

"When they were saying they had to leave, that an employee got killed, people were yelling 'I've been on line since yesterday morning,"' she said. "They kept shopping."

Irate and yelling because they had been in line since the day before??? A person is forever DEAD!

Sick individuals. I don't know if this is getting the kind of attention it should because I haven't watched the news since the election, but this should be all over the news stations. Something needs to change regarding the insanity over Black Friday. People spend their Thanksgivings camped outside retailers to save a few bucks. That's ridiculous enough. But this? Whoever participated in trampling over the guy should rot in jail.

Doubt that there will be many if any charges because it would be hard to prove who did what. Trying to remember when, but I invoked Gaia once during a ritual (I think it was Ostara) to ask for her blessing-boy did I get slapped down, it was a most uncomfortable feeling. Sort of like confronting an angry Mother after breaking a prized vase.

Thanksgiving is time to be with family, not camping out for Black Friday. This is pathetic all I can say.
