Colin, another magazine I took for awhile during my late grade school through
middle school (junior high) years...was called Boy's Life...it's like a boy scouting magazine...but it's more than just scouting. I was never in the scouts...but did enjoy reading the various stories in it, etc.

I get Natural History and read it from cover to cover. Everything from interstellar dust to dung beetles. Just read an interesting article in the sept issue about a male ape that was being mercilessly strung along by a female "tease" who would offer occasional, partial gratification putting him in a constant state of excitement. It went on to discuss the brain chemistry involved in anticipation/gratification, and how this same mechanism allows terrorists to keep us so on edge. Wow!

What I learned in therapy is that no one has any power over you that you don't GIVE them...that goes for terrorists, too.
Criminals, terrorists, whoever, rely on shock, fear and surprise....DENY them that, and see what they become...the cowards they are. This does require some self-training, but it CAN be done. See "The Courage to Heal Workbook", Laura Davis, Harper & Row, paperback.
