chad is absolutely right. Liberals are well..just that..liberal when it comes to drug abuse. They want money for this..money for that...drug treatment clinics...needle exchange programs...you name it..the Liberals have a program and your money to fund it.
But...if your name happens to be ...say..Rush Limbaugh..or George Bush...then they are sorry, but they don't think you are derserving of their endless sympathy and compassion.
Let's take a look Democratic convention lineup this year

Rush never was looking for sympathy for his problems. He took full responsibility for his own actions and made no excuses for his failures.
I may be reading into your whole spin on compassion and sympathy...but it sounds like you think certain republicans, namely our President, don't feel your pain. Am I right?

No. What GW did in the past is the past. He shows that people can get over their problems. Some need more help and guidance than others. He's HUMAN, just like everyone else. I had problems myself in school, so who the heck am I to judge? It's the people that don't show any COMPASSION towards their fellow man and regularly bash them while making themselves seem like they are better, more knowledgable, blah, blah, blah, that I really don't have the time for.

Hypocrisy isnt by definition bad, but in Rush's case it suggests that he says things for reasons other than he believes strongly in them.

ok...good response(in regards to Bush), although I don't see Rush as the type person you describe. But in all fairness to you, most liberals see Rush this way, and he actually makes it so easy for them. For Rush to succeed at what he does, he needs for Liberals to despise him. What I find entertaining about Rush, is he does it more often than not, by simply illustrating just how absurd their respective position actually is. For this reason, he is seen as a hateful, un-compassionate conservative.
We conservatives see him as a voice of reason, a man of high integrity, and moral convictions. The fact that he makes the blood of liberals boil, just shows how close to home he is hitting with the core issues we conservatives and liberals battle over.

I have to laugh at "voice of reason, a man of high integrity, and moral convictions". You have plenty of people in the Republican party to which the aforementioned words can be attributed to. I don't think they fit Rush Limbaugh.
And as far as the convention line-up is concerned... everyone makes mistakes. In the heat of the moment... in the line of fire... we have to make quick decisions. I am NOT defending ANY of the decisions that anyone that you originally posted about, but I do believe that you took all the NEGATIVE about them and made your post so biased that it is not even funny.
Why don't you mention the men that John Kerry saved in battle??? Or the good things the Clinton administration did???
Why must it always be so negative on both sides?? You turn off swing voters like myself in doing such a thing.
If you feel the need to pat your Republican friends on the back, then by all means do so, but if you have to knock the Dems down a couple of pegs to get your kicks, are the Republicans that great after all??

...Jennifer...
Jen... no,no,no! My problem lies in the way the thread was presented rather than posting what they did. Calling Al Gore names (while is not far off the mark

You can point out wrongdoings without bashing...which is something the Dems have never understood. The Repubs used to be the ones who took the high road, but now they are just as negative as the Dems.
I am tired of the cynicism, the outlandish negativity that is displayed ad nauseum. I also think of myself as being fair and balanced. If we are going to describe someone or some people (as was done here) let's look at their record objectively and not only put in the negative.
Does that make more sense???

Garrett ---- the post is meant to be humorous..I'm sorry if it offended you in any way, but...buried in that humor, are some undeniable facts, and they aren't pretty.
The line up:
I'm from Massachusetts and Ted Kennedy disgusts me, and everything I've ever read suggests that the man has gotten away with murder..literally! I think the man is fair game for ridicule, and critizism.
Clinton?? I mean what needs to be said here?
Gore ---- he's a nutcase and fair game due to his outrageous behavior
Left off of the line up summary were the likes of Screamin' Dean, Al Sharpton, Billary..I mean I'm laughing to myself just thinking about this line up.
In the spirit of fairness, I'd welcome a critical review of the guest speakers at the Republican convention. I seriously doubt however, that their line up will even come close to matching this line up for certifiable nuts and criminals.
