Austria, Canada(several times), and Italy(twice). Italy was my favorite, if I hadn't missed my kids so much I might have been tempted to stay. :D

why would you get that close and not go ahead and cross the border?

Basically, because I wasn't allowed. The crossing I went to only let military personell cross, and I was a civilian. If I wanted to cross, I would have had to go about 5 more hours down the road. Its a shame, too, because I was really looking forward to going to Israel! :(

Haven't been outside of the United States, but I have been in every state on the eastern seaboard.

St. Vincent & the Grenadines (That's one country)
Trinidad & Tobago (That's also a single country)
USA (Florida, Ohio, New York)
Puerto Rico (Just the airport - in transit to the US mainland)
St. Croix (Didn't even get off the plane, as it was just a brief stop to collect some passengers. One of those passengers was clearly petrified of flying. As the plane made the take off run, she was holding the armrests very tightly!)
Canada (Mostly Toronto)
Mexico (Just Mexico City - Plans to visit the pyramids were scuttled by a wisdom tooth situation.)
St. Lucia
Guyana
Margarita Island (It's part of Venezuela and no, the islanders don't just sit around sipping on margaritas all day! )
Aruba
CuraƧao

That's it, I think. I'd like to visit Africa, Europe, Asia and Australia sometime though.

Let's see, when I was working off the southern tip of South America in 1980:

Argentina (Buenos Aires, Comodoro Rivadavia, Rio Gallegos, Rio Grande (on Tierra del Fuego))
Brazil (Rio)
Ecuador (Quito)

A few years ago:

Norway (Bergen)
Netherlands (Amsterdam)

Oh, and then there would be my multiple yearly visits to New Orleans, which I think is a separate country form the U.S. ...

After those damn exams I'm now letting the steam off in France :)
Then, I'm off to America, then Japan for the rest of the summer :D

I don't return to Sweden until the beginning of September, then I'm straight to the UK.
