This will make my usual practice of carrying everything on more difficult.

Continental (one of the airlines targeted) doesn't fly out of Heathrow; it flies out of Gatwick. I wonder why all of the focus is on Heathrow and not Gatwick as well? Also, Manchester and Bristol in the UK also have American airlines flying into them.

Pfew, airports here in Europe are pure chaos. Guess it's the same in the US right now.

I heard that if you're flying from Schiphol Airport you can only take your wallet and your passport as hand luggage in the plane and that security is very, very tight. I'm glad I came back from Asia yesterday and not today.

I think Heathrow gets the attention because it's bigger than Gatwick and will have more delay problems with the new security rules. But you're right, Continental doesn't go to Heathrow. American and United do, however.

Is it true that all liquids and gels are banned? Could that possibly be more inconvenient?

It's true, and it's really inconvenient if you usually tend to bring everything aboard.

THE BELOW ARE NOT MY THOUGHTS, BUT WHAT I HEARD ON THE RADIO TODAY BY GLENN BECK OF CNN HEADLINE NEWS

should have listened to the Glenn Beck program today... he gave a warning as to what this may lead to. I wont repeat it here, but what he said could happen is a repeat of history... just with a different group. I'll let you all put two and two together as to what he said

You can still put liquids and gels into your checked baggage. You just can't carry them on.

I think some things are just a tad more important than are conveniences

Of course it's not as inconvenient as not arriving to your destination at all.

If you make flight so inconvenient that people won't fly or won't fly as often the terrorists win without blowing up a single plane. No liquid or gels? What if an ill person gets stuck on the tarmac for several hours without access to water. There are a lot of people that would have a very difficult time traveling with zero liquids and gels including babies and the elderly.

we really need to rethink our convenience first society that we live in.

If we are opposed to people protecting us just because it is inconvenient, no wonder why we are subject to attacks, its because we allow ourselves to be an easy target. We must take steps to shore up these weaknesses and holes in our defense so that we can stop attacks, like our British friends did today

we are talking about carry on liquids...not liquids provided by the airline. I am sure the airlines will make necessary arrangements to have water available, however I am pretty sure they already do!

the terrorists don't win if we are inconvenienced. The terrorists lose if they are caught and nobody dies. They win if they suceed in carrying out the mission

What would you have them do? These monsters were, among other things being reported, using things like nitroglycerin IN such containers as those disguised as baby formula bottles? I concur this will impact the air travel industry, just as 9/11 has; but when you know someone could very well be boarding a plane using both their baby and the bottle of formula they have to blow up the plane in-flight--what would you have them do? They can't just continue to roll the dice and "hope" nobody else tries this. We are NOT dealing with very nice people here--these are the kinds of barbarians who truly do think that to die for their cause is an honor and that's what makes them so dangerous--and their numbers, to quote a phrase--are truly legion.

Probably, but it is a billion times more convenient to have your own bottled water than to have to nag the staff. As these restrictions continue to get more and more strict it won't be long before someone dies as a result of them. Just a couple weeks ago a flight was stuck on O'hare in the heat for several hours with no AC -- if that happened again under these new restrictions several people would have perished.
