Well it isn't as bad as it was. Due to my dual heritage (American and Canadian) I have had a couple bad experiences in certain parts of the nation. When someone hears I flew in from Canada they sometimes assume; a) I'm a left wing nut, b) and after I explain to them I'm not and that I'm also a citizen of US in Maine (dual to be exact) they still sometimes give me a hard time. Honestly things are a lot better than they were. Though there were parts of the country I would not have dared visited about four years ago, and I'm not really an outsider. As such I can understand why some people visiting the USA might not feel exactly welcome, though it has improved greatly.

We must continue to carefully screen anyone entering the US. No amount of tourist dollars is worth innocent lives being lost in an act of terrorism. And while we are on the subject of money has anyone looked at the final tally for 9/11 yet?

Based on what I have read, the insurance cost for 9/11 is $20,716,000,000. Third largest as of today, Hurricane Katrina and Andrew top 9/11. If you include uninsured, it could easily double. The death toll as of right now stands at 2,974, including 24 missing.
